When Sam saw who was at the door, the gun dropped from his hand. There, stood a small, soaked, shivering, trench-coated man. His face was red, probably from a mix of the cold rain, and the crying.

Sam looked behind him, and Dean was just as surprised. But when he looked back at Castiel, his heart broke. And before he knew it he has the man in his arms.

Not because of a warm embrace. No, this was different , because Sam had to catch the fainting Castiel.

Sam quickly pulled him inside and laid him down on the couch. At a moments notice, Dean was at Cas' side with towels and blankets along with some clothes to change into.

The ex-angel lay unconscious while dean de clothed and dried him, to be honest Sam was quite jealous, but if it were Sam doing the task, he wouldn't have put any clothing back on the smaller body.

Dean looked over to his brother, he was sitting on one of the chairs of the many tables in the lounge of the bunker, pain was showing strong through his features, his eyes were red, probably from holding back tears, his mouth was pulled into a tight line.

He was trying to hide his emotions from Dean as if the older brother didn't know what ran through Sam's mind when Cas was around, sure Dean liked Cas, but Sam liked the angel a bit differently than Dean did.

Not being able to watch any longer he grabbed a beer from the fridge and came back into the living room area.

"Sammy, go to bed, we have both had a long day and He won't get any better by you watching him. Plus, you need to rest too you know, you have a soul now." Dean tried to manage a chuckle, and it worked.

Sam didn't even smile. He just nodded, got up and headed toward his room, taking one look at Castiel before he left.

~The Morning After~

When Cas woke up, he didn't even open his eyes, the pain in the rest of his body made him want to die, he had been human many times but this was one of the times that he wished he could heal himself.

The angel felt a shiver run through him and he gripped the blanket tightly. Why was he so cold? He knew that he was probably sick but normally when you're sick don't you feel hot?

That's what he had heard. Another chill ran through his body, followed by many more, he didn't think he could pull the blankets any tighter.

Cas looked around the large room, finding a clock, it was only 7 in the morning. The ex-angel tried to get up but started to cough vigorously, he covered his mouth and sat back down on the couch. Why was he so weak?

He wanted to call for somebody, and he tried. His voice was so hoarse, no sound came out. He gave up and laid back down, he knew even if he could yell, nobody would hear him.

The Winchester's never woke up past noon. So he decided since his head was pounding, he would lay down, close his eyes, and fall into unconciousness.

When he woke up, the pain was still there, he groaned and wiped the sweat from his brow, even doing the littlest of movement, shot pain through his body, he struggled to move so that he was laying on his back closing his eyes once again.

Soon after he did he heard footsteps, and then he felt something that he believed to be a washcloth on his forehead before opening his eyes and seeing a worried Sam's face.

"Cas you're running a fever." Sam said, chewing on the inside of his cheek.

"That's impossible, I'm freezing." Cas croaked out the best he could.

Sam tried to keep a poker face but, Castiel could see worry peeking through. When Cas tried to sit up, Sam practically had a panic attack, wrapping his arms around the man and housing him gently into a sitting position.

"Sam, I'm fine I can sit up on my own..." Castiel spoke, he sounded more sure than he really was.

"I know that but I don't want you to hurt...ever. And that's what's happening to you isn't it?" Sam looked hard into Cas' eyes before turning away. He couldn't take looking at his friend like that.

His eyes were red, his usually soft looking lips were chapped and cracked and showed red stains that an onlooker might have passed as cherry residue, if you didn't know. And his hair was all tousled and messy, well messier than usual.

Sam heard the pads of small feet behind him, then a pair of arms were around his mid-section, Sam couldn't help but blush. The taller man was forced to turn around and a hand was on his face, pushing it up and Sam was made to look at Castiel.

True, Sam could have easily overpowered Castiel, but it was so cute that he chose to give the benefit of the doubt. The way that Castiel looked at Sam made him want to break down right then and there.

The next thing Sam knew the smaller, trench coated ex-angel had his arms around Sam's neck.

Cas felt his knees get weak and give out, he felt a Sam's arms tighten around him and a voice that said,

"You need to rest Cas." Sam whispered softly into Cas' ear.

"Can we go somewhere other than the couch?" Cas whispered, making the hair on Sam's neck rise.

"Why of course, you've been on the couch for the past day and a half." Sam stood up, he picked Cas up bridal style and took him upstairs into his room. Not realizing that Cas had fainted in his arms due to exhaustion

When Sam put Castiel down his body was limp, his breath was ragged and his chest only rose slightly. Sam chewed the inside of his cheek and put Castiel in what looked like a comfortable position before crawling into the bed with him.

He couldn't help but to wrap his arms around the smaller body, pulling him close, he loved the angel that was slowly fading.
