• • •Rhaenyra sat in the small council chamber along with other council members, her father, Alicent, Lyonel, Jasper Wylde, Lord Larys Strong and Ser Tyland Lannister. She was uninterested in the conversation Lyonel was discussing. She held her hand on her breasts in hopes it would soothe her pain, it did not, however. The heir has felt almost hopeless as her husband, Laenor Velaryon seemed to be busy paying attention to his male lovers and the true father of her children Ser Harwin was being berated by his father over his actions in the courtyard. She feared she was losing her power and claim almost making her desperate to gain in back.
"It is Lord Blackwood's contention, therefore, that the Brackens moved the boundary stones in the dead of the night and put their horses to graze in his field."
"Why was this issue not brought before Lord Grover?" Alicent would ask the hand. "Has he grown so feeble he cannot settle a quarrel over rocks?"
"I've heard tale that Lord Grover's son now rules Riverrun in all but name." Jasper informed the council.
"Well, he is also a Tully, and this remains a Tully problem." Alicent pushed to everyone gaining the king to speak on the matter
"I would agree."
"If we may move on, my lords-"
"And yet, the Brackens and the Blackwoods will use any excuse to spill each other's blood." Rhaenyra interrupted the man gaining the attention of the queen who didn't seem to enjoy her rudeness.
"So, this dispute bears looking into. There will be countryfolk who known where the lines have been drawn for generations.
"That is easy enough." The hand agreed with the princess making the queen roll her eyes with grimace before sipping on her glass of wine to calm her nerves. "Of course." Alicent wasn't surprised how quickly the man was to take her side. Everyone always turned a blind eye to what others had to say when it came to Rhaenyra's actions.
"Ser Tyland." The hand looked over to the king for his help in keeping the tension of the room down. Tyland cleared his throat as he ready himself to speak.
"Uh, we should address the latest developments in the Steptones, my lords."
"Will we ever be shut of that blasted place?" Viserys sighed.
"If you ask me, I think the Blackwoods have upper hand."
"No." Alicent shook her head as the older man seemed to be behind of their discussion.
"We've moved on to the Stepstones, Lord Beesbury."
"And the Triarchy's new alliance with Dorne." Rhaenyra smirked at the old man whose mind wasn't as well as it used to be.
"I was hoping for our negotiations with Sunspesr might persuade them to see reason." Viserys coughed but continued his statement. "To trust a Martell is to be disappointed."
"And where, I wonder, is our Prince Daemon? Or I suppose I should call him King, as he styled himself what he when he won a battle...once."
"That was a decade ago and he has since left the region undefended."
"We have left it undefended. There should've been fortifications built, watchtowers, a fleet of ships, a garrison of soldiers sent to hold our ground." The queen rested her elbow on table with her finger intertwined with one another.
"We cannot afford it. Our coffers are great, but not infinite. We must consider the cost to our subjects." Alicent reasoned. Lord Beesbury tried to speak but was soon interrupted by Rhaenyra as the discussion soon turned into an argument between the princess and queen.
