Jimin hated Friday homework.

He looked up from his laptop at the kitchen table, tapping his pencil on the notebook next to it, watching his parents carefully.

His mother, softly humming at the kitchen sink as she washed the dishes from dinner and his father next to her, drying and placing the dishes up in the cabinets.

They looked like they could be what the epitome of what a loving marriage should be.

Of course, his father was trying to mend things and was finally trying to be a decent man.

Jimin had seen and heard his parents arguing and fighting plenty of times but they always worked things out.

Despite how his father had betrayed his mother, they fixed things.

Or were trying to fix things.

He caught himself smirking at how cute they were and how well they fit together, like two crooked pieces of one sickening puzzle that, despite things, just seemed to work.

Although they had a few years difference, Jimin's mother being nearly 9 years older than his father, who had just turned 35 half a year ago, they looked good together. His father looked like the older of the two, with people usually assuming as such. Jimin, who'd turned 17 a couple of weeks ago, was always in awe of how young and pretty his mother looked.

She was a little chubby and was always self-conscious of it, despite how his father had recently started to encourage her to be happy with herself.

She had started gaining weight after losing what would have been 10 year old Jimin's first soon to be little brother or sister. She fell into a deep depression and lost interest in a lot of things and essentially ate her feelings.

It was after years of pain, shitty situations, and losing another pregnancy that his father brought up in virto fertilization, which Jimin had eventually supported for his parents. Knowing how badly his mother wanted another baby and how she struggled after losing two, Jimin promised to do all he could to help them.

And he meant it in more ways than he wanted them to know.

Jimin had been raised to be a good boy.

He had been appropriately punished when he was bad, information was never withheld from him, and he was given creative freedoms as a child to do what he wanted, within the realm of reason.
