Chapter 5 - Voices

[Xiao's pov.]

°In the Liyue Harbor°

Xiao, Aether, Kazuha and Gorou were looking around for Venti.
They called his name multiple times but to no avail.

"We've been searching for almost half an hour now !"
"I'm seriously starting to think that something must've happened to him."
Aether said as he was getting worried.

"There are still some places we didn't check yet." -K
"We'll go in pairs of 2 and search in those places then." -A
Kazuha and Gorou went East and Xiao and Aether went West.

"Excuse me miss, have you seen a male..."
Aether was asking around if some people had seen Venti whilst Xiao was still looking around.

"Darn it Venti, where are you. ."
Xiao closed his eyes.

"..."

"No... Don't leave me !"

Xiao reopened his eyes and sprinted away.
"Wait Xiao ! Where are you going ?!"
Aether yelled as Xiao just ran somewhere.

Xiao stopped for a second to catch his breath.
Whilst he was huffing and puffing he closed his eyes again...

"..."

"No... Please !"

Xiao looked to his right where a small, dark alleyway could be found and walked towards it.

"Venti ?" -X
No answer...
Xiao walked further in the alley.

He took a few turns and then there he was, Venti was laying on the ground clearly unconscious.

"Venti !" -X
Xiao kneeled next to him.
He examined him to see if he didn't have any injuries.
"Nothing, good." -X

Venti suddenly cried out:
"No... Not again..."
"What's happening ?"
"Is he having a nightmare again ??"

Xiao hesitated a bit but then he leaned his head against Venti's.
"It's alright, I'm here now."

Venti's breath seemed to call down.
They both layed there for a few seconds.

"Huh... Xiao ?"
Venti said as he opened his eyes.
"Venti... You're okay."
Xiao smiled.

"What happened ?"
"You went to look for me but I already was back at the meeting spot and then we just couldn't find you and I was getting super worried that you still hadn't been found after more than an hour and..." -X

"You were worried for me ?" -V

"..."

Xiao moved his face away from Venti's, his face now being as red as a tomato.

"I-i didn't say that !" -X
"You did~" Venti teased him.
Xiao just turned his head away from Venti as Venti chuckled softly.

"Say, where are the others ?"
"Isn't lantern rite gonna start soon ?" -V
"Well yes, we still gotta eat and take a look at all the little markets." -X

"Then what are we waiting for !"
Venti jumped up.
"Let's get going !" -V
He grabbed Xiao's arm and pulled him as they fastly walked out of the dark alleyway.

After a few minutes they finally found Aether again.
"There you guys are !"  -A
"I was getting quite worried when we couldn't find you Venti." -A

"It's alright. I'm fine now." -V
"And you Xiao. How dare you just run off like that when we're supposed to do this together." -A

"Sorry ?" -X
"Whatever, it's fine. We just need to find the other 2 right now." -A

The 3 of them searched for them.
Eventually they found them and continued their day as planned.

•Later (almost night)•

"Let's go find a good spot. The lanterns are gonna be released soon !" -G

They all sat down somewhere on a mountain next to Liyue Harbor, where nobody could disturb them.

Each of them bought a lantern to release as soon as the other lanterns would be released.

As they talked for a while but then Xiao suddenly noticed something.
It was the first lantern !
"The lanterns have been released." -X

"Alright, let's all release our lanterns on the count of 3." -K

"1"
"2"
"3 !"

They all released their lanterns, except for Xiao.
His lantern just wouldn't fly up.
"Here let me help you !" -V

Venti grabbed his lantern and re-adjusted some thing inside the lanter.
"Try it again." -V

Xiao took the lanter and lifted it up in the air, only for it to be swept away by the wind.
The lanter floated in the air, as it shined brightly like a star.

Venti smiled at Xiao.
"Now you may make a wish !" -V
"Oh" -X
"I wish..." -X
"I wish for Venti to be happy..." -X

Oml, school just won't calm down with the tests.
