As I flipped through the pages, learning more information about the world I found myself in. I paused on a page that was splotched with tears and ink. “As the days progress, your body will begin to transform. After 7 days, the transformation will be complete and you will be an official entity of this realm. In my experiences I learned that the way you look after day 7 depends on how you lived. If you were a bad person you will become more corrupt than someone who was a good person. ‘Corrupt’ isn’t the right word… In this place no one is corrupt, at least not to them…” I read. “You need to find shelter before dusk,” I heard a voice say. I turned to the voice to see a woman with pale skin, long dark hair tied in a braid, and her face was covered in eyes. “What?” I asked, backing away slowly. “Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you. I’m not from here originally, either. I’ve been here for two years, thats 730 years where we’re from. I want to help you because you remind me of someone I once knew…” She trailed off with a saddened expression on her face. “It doesn’t matter, what matters is that you need to find shelter for the night,” She said. “I don’t even know where I am…” I said. “I will let you stay at my home for the night, but no longer, I don’t want you to get trapped here like I have,” She said. I followed her to a house that felt oddly familiar. “Have I been here before?” I asked myself. “No… This place makes you feel deja vu…” She said. “So… who are you?” I asked when we walked inside. She paused for a moment before responding. “Isys, my name is Isys,” She said. “I’m Nico,” I said. “Nikolas,” She mumbled. “What?” I asked. “Oh, nothing, Dear,” She said. I pulled out my phone and looked at the time. “What’s going on?” I asked, showing her my phone screen. “Time is different here, but you’ve been gone for about two months,” She said. She studied my lockscreen before looking at my face with wide eyes. “Who are those people?” She asked me. I looked at my screen and then back to her. “My mom, Iris, my friend, Alex, and myself. Why?” I said, confused. “I was just curious. Your mother, is she kind?” She said, in a kind of daze. “She was the best… Until…” I trailed off. “Appologies, I did not realize… What about your friend?” She said. “Alex is the best, they’re my best friend,” I said. “That’s good, and you want to get back to them?” She asked. I nodded. “Then I will help you get home, help you live an eventful life,” She said with determination. “Do you know how to get out of here?” I asked. “Yes, but by the time I learned how, I had no desire to return,” She said. “What is that book?” She asked, turning her attention to the journal in my hand. “It’s a journal of some sort, it’s how I got here,” I said, handing her the book. She flipped the pages, her eyes moving rapidly across the words. “This book is very detailed, however, the person who wrote it didn’t write the way out completely…” She said, stopping on a page towards the back. “But you know the rest of the way?" I asked. She paused for a moment. "Yes…"
