~Story Starts~

"I never wanted this to hurt you the manner in which it has. You sit and cry, you're a broken man fallen from his throne. I feel I'm partially to blame, for I died a premature death. It wasn't all your fault, my love. You hadn't meant for the round to hurtle towards me. I just hadn't moved in time, I faced the consequence of obliviousness. Forgive me, will you? I never wanted my demise to harm you, amour. I thought things would get better, but it seems my Blauer Vogel's wings still need time to heal."

Hearing his love's words only seemed to make Dave sob harder, bringing his knees to his chest, and burying his face into them. His entire body shook with every cry, with every plea, with every wish. All he wanted was for Oordway to truly be here, for him to be able to hug and kiss him, for him to tell him everything would be alright. "It's not your fault, Liebe..." He whispered, a small sniffle following. "I don't know why I still listen, for I know you're not really here. This happens so often. But every time, I realize it's all just some cruel hallucination."

The ghostly man slowly turned his head. "I'll be here as long as you wish for me to stay," he comforted, a gentle hand raising to cup Dave's cheek. "Had you learned nothing during my time alive, amour... I'll be here no matter what. Just because death so mercilessly took me away, she was kind enough to allow me to come comfort you. I'm always going to be here as long as you call upon me, you mustn't accuse yourself."

"You aren't here.." David muttered, lifting his head to stare at the ghostly figure. He wiped a teary eye with his hand, glancing at the empty bottles of beer. "You're simply just my brain playing tricks, a figment of my imagination caused by too much alcohol." He clenched his teeth, closing his eyes once he caught sight of Oordway's wound. God, why was that still there? Was it a punishment? Something to serve as a terrible reminder of what he has done? "I hurt you.." He cried out. "You're gone because of me."

"I'm gone because fate decided that I got to go. You were in the grand scheme of things, of my life. I loved you then, I love you now. That love never faded, even after I hit the field. That love remained as I was buried in the Earth... and that love still burns as I look at you now. What happened was never meant to break you, it was meant to strengthen you, mon amour." Oordway spoke gently, crossing his legs. "I didn't wish to say goodbye. I wanted to say that I'll see you later, much like Johnson whispered goodnight. You never had to say goodbye to me, for you never lost me, Blauer Vogel, I'm still here." He pointed towards the man's chest, gentle eyes still resting easily. "It was never a goodbye."

The blonde let out another heartbroken sob, trying to tell himself this wasn't real. He didn't want to allow himself to fall into the comfort of another hallucination, talking to something that wasn't there, living through memories that would never come to be. He reached a shaky hand to his chest, clutching to his shirt, letting out a pained wheeze. "You're right.." He whispered, a sad smile tugging at his lips. He opened his eyes, tears streaming down his cheeks. "It wasn't a goodbye. For you'll see me soon." He struggled to keep himself from reaching to touch the dead man, for there would simply be no point. It was hard to touch someone who wasn't fully there. "I promise, you'll see me soon."

"David, I will see you when this life decides she wants to call you home... Please, don't end it the way I believe you intend," The ghostly man frowned, running his fingers through the blonde's hair. "I miss you daily, it's as if I'm merely your pen pal again, waiting for your next letter to arrive, mein Kleiner Bär." He leaned close enough to press their foreheads together before parting. "I look at you and see the man I fell in love with, he just needs some help right now. And I know out there, there is someone so willing to help you, amour. You just have to let him help you."

"And if I hurt him?" The blonde questioned, looking away, his brows furrowing.

"He's yet to give up on someone he loves," the ghostly man chuckled, voice airy. He glanced around, embellishing in the delightful echo that rang through the near soundless tent. He looked back at his lover, eyes shimmering. "He won't give up on you; much I'll never give up. You deserve the best, mein Liebe. Every good thing."

"Oh, but that's where you're wrong." The man let out a rather pitiful laugh, it is laced with pure heartbreak. He glanced at Oordway, going silent for a long moment, frowning. How could he look so peaceful? Even with blood dripping from his mouth and an obvious wound near his stomach? He could feel his lip begin to quiver. "I don't deserve anything but to suffer. It seems everyone I get close to leaves me, so surely, that must have something to do with me, yes?" He glanced down, letting out a quiet sigh. "Everyone would be better off if I joined you, including me."

Oordway's smile faltered, and he reached forward, clasping Dave's hand within his own. "No man of your consequence deserves to suffer. In a world of punishment, you need to be cured and reminded that you aren't to blame for everything. You are loved, even if you can't see it. Cupid, Johnson- they both love you, I love you. The world wouldn't stop turning, but for those people? It would feel like the ground collapsed beneath them. You've become such an important figure in their lives, they wouldn't know how to feel if they lost you. I can wait for you, however. When your time has arrived, you'll be in my arms again; a warm embrace that could last eternities. But please, don't give up yet. I beg of you, Blauer Vogel. Open your eyes and see that there is more for you to live for. That farm you always dreamed of, the sweet little puppy you wish to name Brian. That's all still available, I promise you."

David could only shake his head, crying harder as his hair fell into his eyes. He brought a hand to his face, resting his forehead within the palm. "I can't, Liebe." He sobbed, his voice breaking. "With every dream I had of the future, the only common theme seemed to be you. I wanted so badly to live on that farm, to have that stupid dog with you. Yes, I love Cupid and Jon. I love them so much- the kid is even like my own daughter. I hate to be so selfish, but it hurts to continue without you."

"But you're not going on without me. I might not be prominent, but I'm still here. You carry me in your heart and soul. I live through you. I am what you think of me." Oordway whispered, reaching for a tissue. He lifted one of the flimsy things as if trying to dry the pained man's sorrows. "Just give this life a chance. Take it in stride, hold it like it's all you have. Dave, there are people who depend on you; without you, they have nothing else. Johnson wants to help you so bad he can't stand it- and you need someone to help you. Please, one more chance. We'll still be together soon enough, mon amour. Just give it some more time, alright?"

"I will try, for you," Dave whispered, just loud enough for the ghost to hear. "I will try, but I can't promise that I will hold on for much longer. It's all so exhausting. You know?"

"I know, but all I ask of you is to try," Oordway whispered, lifting his gaze to the tent entrance, watching as the tent flap was pulled back. A familiar outline appeared, and he chuckled, bowing his head. "Always on time, aren't you, Morgan?"

"Dave?" The Englishman's quiet voice spoke.

Oordway slowly looked over to the blonde- his dearest David, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "Please, don't cry."
