—-Blair's POV——
It seemed colder tonight. Not the weather, but more the atmosphere. After Jacob broke the news to me about our arranged marriage, I couldn't help but feel more happy than ever. It felt wrong for some reason though..like there was someone else I was saving my love for. Was it really the time to celebrate? I mean, the way he vented about his crew leaving him and how this marriage was his only option really overwhelmed me! I'm in love with Jacob... (I think), but again there's this a small piece of my heart that still clings on to an anonymous being. Who could it be?My thoughts were then cut off by the loud cry of the open doors behind me.
"It's time to get ready your majesty. The ball starts in just a few hours." My kind maid exclaimed as she held many pieces of cloth in her arms.
I nodded my head as a sign of gratitude and let the other surrounding maids help me dress for the moment I'd waited for all my life.

—-Y/n's POV—-
The plan almost seemed to perfect! Father and some other crew mates were dressed in the most silly servant outfits I've ever seen. Then the other half of the crew along with myself dressed as common guest for the ball. With time to spare, I was able to touch up on Maisie's and my own outfits with left over cloth. Edmond of course stayed in his rather, usual outfit. The only difference was that he had finally taken off that heavy coat of his. I could finally notice his true sculpture. A man who's been through hell I would say."Well don't you look lovely." A voice said behind Maisie and I.
"It was all we had okay!" Maisie shouted.
I shook my head and laughed.
"Maisie! I don't think he meant that sarcastically lass. Unless you did mean to insult my beautiful work." I giggled.
Edmond stuck his tongue out at the girl then approached me a bit closer.
"You know, when someone refers to you looking lovely, they don't always mean what you're wearing." He whispered.
My face was then hit with a whiplash of red. This flustering feeling heating up my face.
"Damn it that was smooth!" I thought to myself with a look of defeat.
Amused by my current state Edmond decided to spare me for now as he continued walking towards the door.
"Just to be clear, everyone knows what we're doing right? The servants can access the hidden channel tunnel that leads into the castle, and the guests will follow me. All I need is for you guys to act as a distraction and I will do the rest. Got it?" Edmond yelled with excitement. We all cheered to signal that we were ready. With that, the crew split paths and headed toward the castle to ruin that ball!
(—-Time-skip—-)
As we neared the entrance of the castle, Edmond has gestured his arm towards me. I quickly locked my arm around his to act as his mistress for the event, with Maisie still following close behind as "our child". When we finally reached the tall doors to the ballroom, I felt cold goosebumps rising from my skin as the muffled music banged on the doors. When the doors opened, it felt as if a misty breeze from the clear ocean cooled my face from the humidity around it.
"What do you think?" Edmond whispered as he pulled me closer to his side.
"It's, beautiful..." I breathed out as my eyes admired the elegant scenery in front of me.
(If you want to better feel the ambience, read this chapter outside of the app and on the Wattpad website so you can both read and listen to the music!)⭐️
As we walked down the marbled steps, the massive ballroom was filled with life as the waltzing music flew through the air. The floor covered with dancing figures made me feel as if I were in a fairytale. Maisie had suddenly ran off to enjoy the chocolate fondue fountain displayed near the small pastries. Some sugar did sound good about now, but before I could also head over to the table full of sugar, an arm was wrapped around my waste and seemed to pull me toward the circle of waltzing figures.
"May I have this dance my lady?" He said dramatically holding my hand and kissing it.
Slightly amused from his act, I curtsied as a way to accept his proposal. But as he held me into position to dance, I quickly held him in place and said, "Wait, Edmond. I have to tell you something. I don't know how to.." before I could finish my sentence, the music began and immediately, Edmond swept me off my feet.
"Don't worry darling. I've got you, just follow my lead." He calmly whispered to calm me down. At first my feet were in a crazy mess of a pattern. But as the music cried out more into the beauty of the ballroom, I found myself deeper indulged with its cries. It was then, did I find myself a rhythm. With a proud smile I danced my heart out to the music along with Edmond.
After a couple minutes of waltzing, the lights of the room seemed to dim and the floor emptied. All that was left was an empty circle surrounded by souls filled with anticipation. A warm but elegant blue light shined inside the circle, revealing the figure of the man I both wished I could and could not see again. Of course all he wore was a white button up, the sleeves half way up his toned arms along with midnight black pants. To my surprise, his brown buckled boots were not present. Instead, there were sleek solid dress shoes. My heart yet again sank at the sight of him staring into the eyes of Blair as they both danced. One pair of eyes filled with love, the other filled with regret. After a while other partners had decided to join in with the waltz of the two. As Edmond and I joined in I couldn't help but feel a cold stare behind my neck.
—- Jacob's POV—-
I would give anything right now to wear my boots again. These bloody dress shoes are such an annoyance. As I carefully waltzed with Blair's delicate figure, I stared deep into her eyes, thinking back to all that could've been. As more people surrounded our silent waltz, I couldn't help but recognize one person in the crowd of dancing figures. Y/n. My eyebrows seemed to furrow as I noticed a mysterious man holding her close while dancing. That smile of hers. Her smile is like a full moon on a black night. I couldn't bare seeing her share it with anyone else. For a brief moment, we had locked eyes. A small needle seemed to pierce my pupils seeing the fear, relief and anger in those eyes. As I felt Blair pull me back to the thrones, I quickly pulled my arm away making up my mind to apologize and heal that heart I once broke.
"Y/n!" I cried. Unfortunately, the beautiful music of the waltz drowned it out. The only ears that received my pleading voice was that damn anonymous stranger that always stood near to
y/n. Glaring at me, he turned his back to me and lead y/n away from the waltzing floor. With a sigh of defeat and anger, I lead myself back to the thrones for the final announcement to be announced.(To be continued..)
