Two Months Later...
"I can do it, Ram. I promise."
"That's what you said last month! Remember how you acted when you smelled weed? Not happening again." Rampage was firm with his words and she saw the fight in his eyes.
"That was different! I had just gotten over withdrawal. I can do it this time."
She just wanted to go the Friday night party. Ram kept her locked up in his house, day in and day out. She just wanted to go to see the girls. She needed human interaction that wasn't just Ram. She needed her friends!
Sarah had her second son, Cain, last month, so Rebel would probably leave early to go see her and the baby anyway.
"You're not going, Rebel and that's final."
"Watch me!" She yelled and stormed past him, slamming the front door in his face and tying the door handle to the porch banister. It wouldn't keep him in, but it would stall him.
She ran to her truck and backed out just as Ram came running around the house. "I love you, baby, see you there!" She called, waving.
"Damn it, Rebel!" Ram yelled after her.
He followed close behind on his bike, but he didn't try to catch up or get in front of her or make her pull over. The prospect stared at her with wide eyes as she pulled into the lot. Rampage pulled up behind her.
"Don't be mad--"
Ram grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the kitchen. "Mad? I'm just trying to keep you safe, Rebel. I'm trying to help."
He closed the door, picking her up and setting her on the counter. Ram stepped between her legs and put his forehead to hers. Rebel ran her fingers through his short hair and hugged him tight.
"I just want to go back to how it was. Before everything happened. I'm tired of everyone treating me like a porcelain doll, like I'm going to break at any second. I'm tired of people watching my every move. I just want to feel normal again and not like I'm some artifact in a museum that everyone is scared to touch or it'll break." She explained.
Ram nodded. "I guess I can see your point. It's just everytime I walk out of the house or you leave the room--"
"I know..."
"C'mon. Might as well say hi while we're here," he said, kissing her nose.
He helped her off the counter and they walked into the main room where everyone was sitting around Sarah and Cain. The party hadn't started yet, thank God. As soon as someone spotted her everyone moved to hide the alcohol or put out the joints. Lucky for them though, they weren't near the baby.
She groaned. "Never mind. I can't do this--or they cant. Something."
She turned to go and Ram grabbed her arm. "You wanted to say hi and meet Cain. Don't let them stop you."
"I don't want to be here if this is how they're going to react everytime!"
"Whoa, you ok?" Snake asked.
Rebel put her head in her hands and shook her head, just wanting to leave.
"She wants everyone to go back to how they were before what happened. She doesn't want them to treat her any different," Rampage explained.
"Don't mind them, Reb. They just don't want you freaking out again." Snake said.
"It was withdrawals!" She said exasperated.
Snake chuckled. "C'mon, it's about time Cain met his Aunt Rebel."
That put a smile on her face and she went and sat next to Sarah. She held Cain and played with him, making him laugh in that cute giggle that babies have. He was precious and looked just like his daddy--for everyone's sake, hopefully he didn't grow up to act like his daddy.
When it was time for his nap, Sarah decided to head home. Rebel went in search for Ram and her dad. They were out back, trying to figure out where to put the horseshoe pit.
"It'll be too close to the grill if we put it there," dad said.
"Well we can't put it there, it's too close to the playground," Ram replied.
"Put it near the tree," she said, walking over. "The tree will create shade, it's a good distance from the playground so the kids will be safe, but close enough to grab your beers."
"See," her dad said, "this is why it's good to have a woman around. And Montero women are always the best."
"You don't have to tell me twice," Ram said as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"I'll have the prospects get on it in the morning," dad said.
"Ready to go home, babe?" Ram asked and kissed her cheek.
"Please?" She asked. She liked getting out of the house, but it was exhausting when usually all she did was watch Netflix and keep up with the house cleaning.
After their goodbyes and trip home, Rebel took a long shower. She took her time washing and drying off, and pulled on a black lace nighty.
When she opened the bathroom door, the bedroom lights were out, but candles were lit all over the room. Her brows pulled together and she stepped into the room, feeling something stick to her feet. Bending down she lifted a handful of something silky. A smile broke out on her face when she saw they were red rose petals.
"Ram?" She called. "Babe, what are you doin?"
No response. Rebel rolled her eyes and walked to the hallway where there was a trail of petals down the stairs. She followed them into the living room, when she found Rampage down on one knee holding a small velvet box, she stopped dead in her tracks.
"Oh Ram," she said, trying not to cry.
"Rebel Lilith Montero," Ram said as he stood up and walked toward her. "You are an amazing, psychotic, beautiful woman. Since the day I laid eyes on you, I knew you'd be mine and I knew you'd be my Old Lady. Never thought I'd be doing this though. But I think I've lost you enough times to realize that I can't live a day without you. Will you do me the honor of taking my last name and becoming my wife?"
"Do you really have to ask?" She watched as he slipped the ring onto her finger. She cupped his cheeks and kissed him. "I love you. And as totally cliche as this was, it was beautiful and perfect."
He shrugged. "Eh, figured I'd romance you this once."
"Once, huh?" She giggled as he pulled her closer to him.
He kissed her neck. "Maybe I could be convince to do it again." Rampage gripped her ass and lifted her up. "What do you say we take this upstairs?"
"I'd say you're moving too slow."
He smacked her ass and ran up the stairs to their bedroom.
