A Silent Voice and a Rigid Heart

Chapter 2

Kazuya's POV

It was another normal day at school. I was now sitting on my desk wearing my usual mask, reading a book. I can feel Komi constantly glancing at my direction but I just focus on reading my book. I noticed Tadano approach Yamai and a few other girls. They stopped talking for a sec then Yamai turned to Tadano with an obvious fake smile.

"Huh? Yes, Tadano?" Yamai asked, still smiling. He tries to explain about Komi's situation but Yamai came forward and held Tadano's shoulder, leaning into his ear then whispered something.

She pulled away and smiled. I just sighed and resumed my reading. I still feel Komi's gaze and I eventually turned to look at her. She quickly looked away with a blush. I looked back to my book and continued reading.

Lunch Break

I was eating my lunch when I noticed Tadano being gloomy because of his failed attempt at getting friends for Komi. Poor guy. He stood up and slammed his head on his desk.

I finished my food and put on my mask "That hard, huh?" I spoke.

Tadano's POV

I slowly lifted my head up and saw Karasaki-kun packing his lunch. Did I hear Karasaki-kun speak to me? "What?" I asked. He looked at me "I can help you if you want Tadano" he said. I just looked at him surprised that he would offer to help "Why?"

"It just looks like you need it"

"Are you gonna be another friend of Komi's?"

"I'm not doing this to be Komi's friend. I'm doing this because I want to help a classmate. That's all"

I smiled at him "Thanks Karasaki-kun" he nods at me "Any ideas?" he nods towards someone who is talking to another person. I immediately knew who he meant and walked towards them.

I reached their desk "O-Osana..."

Osana turned with a smile "What's up all of a sudden? Got business with your childhood friend, Najimi Osana? Tadano?" I just stared at them.

"And Komi"

I jumped a bit and looked at Komi.

"Where did you come from?" I asked her. She looked at Najimi "Uh, she's Najimi Osana. We went to junior high together. Huh? "She"?" I looked back to Najimi and noticed that she or they are wearing a skirt "Uh, you.. Why are you wearing a skirt?" I asked her, er, them.

"What are you talking about, Tadano? I'm a girl. Of course I'm wearing a skirt!"

Kazuya's POV

I just listened to them talk or more like Tadano stating that Najimi wore a boy's uniform in their junior high with Komi just standing there watching them. I got up and walked towards them then stood beside Komi then random people started approaching Najimi. Turns out everyone is their childhood friend. I moved my arm and accidently nudged Komi, who suddenly jumped to the sudden contact.

She looked at me with wide eyes. I looked at her then back at Najimi "Sorry" I said. Soon, everyone started to leave, leaving only the four of us. "Osana. I need a favor" Tadano said.

"A favor for my old buddy? Ask away. Can my body satisfy your carnal desires?" Najimi said while holding their breast? What?

I approached them "Stop it Najimi, Komi's here" I said. They looked at me then stopped what their doing "Oh, Karasaki, hi" I looked back at Komi who was just staring at me "That was a joke. This is who we're dealing with, but Osana's not a bad person... I think..."

Again, she was still staring at me.

"If you're up for it, the phrase we practiced this morning..." Tadano said. Komi then tilted her head. Tadano leaned in then whispered "Let's be friends". I noticed everyone behind us taking pictures of Komi and glaring at Tadano. Komi then took a deep breath.
