A Silent Voice and a Rigid Heart

Chapter 3

Third Person POV

Kazuya was in the library following someone. Not in a creepy way, but in a "worried and concerned" way. Even though, he doesn't do friends, he somehow ended up looking out for someone. And that someone is Komi Shouko, a popular girl in his class in which he is also popular in. A popular girl who has a communication disorder.

He was searching for her in between the bookshelves when he finally found Komi hiding behind one looking at someone. He followed her gaze and saw Agari Himiko, a green-haired girl who is weak against the stress of interpersonal relations so that just having one person looking at her can cause her to blush, get convulsions, hyperventilate, become inarticulate, have cold sweats, and have stomach pains, among others.

In short, she freaks out when someone looks at her.

So clearly she can feel Komi and now Kazuya, staring at her. Kazuya looked back at Komi and approached her. He whispered in her ear "So this is where you went" she jumped, accidently hitting the bookshelf behind her, letting a few books fall. Kazuya instantly covered her with his body letting a few books fall on his back. Komi looks at him with wide eyes.

He moved away from Komi then looked away "Sorry. The books were gonna hit you" he said then crouched down to pick up the fallen books. Komi just watched him and shook. He stood up and places the books back on the shelf.

He looks at Komi then left the library.

Agari can be seen in one of the stalls relaxing because there is no one there that can give her pressure. But unfortunately, that never lasted long because Komi was waiting by the door on where Agari was sitting which resulted in her freaking out. Agari then can hear shuffling which would mean that Komi left the bathroom.

On her way out, Komi saw Kazuya coming out of the boy's bathroom buttoning up his shirt. Komi froze and blushed then speed walked away from him, still embarrassed about what happened in the library.

For those wondering, Kazuya took off his shirt to see if his back was bruising.

Kazuya just stared at Komi as she left and thought about what transpired between them. He just cleared his throat then walked to his classroom.

Kazuya is now sitting at his desk looking at it and thinking about what happened in the library. He hears someone say "Pa" and looks up. It was Agari, who started freaking out and getting nervous. She stepped back and froze then suddenly "Sixth period gym is in the gymnasium!" Agari yelled, bowed then ran off.

Everyone just stared at her then Komi walked in front of the door. "What happened?" Tadano asked her.

20 minutes earlier

Najimi, Tadano, Komi, and Kazuya, who was dragged by Najimi, are outside talking "And anyway, I wanted to say I can't be friends with just anyone. Komi must have preferences too, right?"

"What are you on about, Najimi?" Kazuya asked, still grumpy from being dragged out of the classroom.

Najimi chuckled "From all of my childhood friends, I've picked the people with the closest personalities to Komi!" then held out papers with people's information on it "Let's get her next friend from this list"

Later, they went back to the classroom to look for potential candidates. They peaked by the door to see the first candidate: Agari Himiko, who is in the same class as them. She has the same problem as Komi, which the latter can feel a kinship with her. As Tadano and Najimi talked, Kazuya was just listening to them and didn't notice Komi leave.
