We always want what we can't have.
The problem with wanting is that it makes us weak.
Haley is bitter, suffering the aftershocks of a loss she can't quite come to terms with. Pushed to the breaking point by her overly attentive family and tedious therapy sessions. Plain and simple, she's done. Done with life. Done with the idea of love. Done with it all.
After losing her grades, her friends, her boyfriend, it's safe to say Haley's parents are concerned. Fearing no hope for the future, they decide to drag Haley across the country for a summer vacation, one final desperate attempt to bring their daughter back to her senses.
Haley just wants to be left alone, she doesn't care where.
This plan seems all well and good, until Haley is confronted with the most attractive 'Breaking and Entering' culprit she's ever come across. Eli is obvious trouble from the get go, and distance from him becomes priority number one. But that's easier said than done when trouble turns out to be the boy next door.
It's even harder when curiosity takes hold.
Eli has a dark past of his own, one that turned him into a walking disaster. Haley can't help herself, finally hooked on a tragedy that isn't her own. She bets she can figure him out by the end of the summer.
Eli thinks he can beat her at her own game.
