Merlin's POV
_________________

"WATER, WE NEED WATER!"

"QUICKLY PUT OUT THAT FIRE!"

"HELP SOMEONE HELP ME!"

"AHHHHHHH!" I could feel my heart shattering with each pain filled scream around me. The dragons flames of war burning anyone who dares cross his path. Leaving choas in his wake. My regret over losing Morgana warring with my shame of making that terrible deal with the dragon. The deal that forced me to free him inexchange for stopping the curse on Camelot.

Now because of me. Not only has Morgana been kidnapped by mourgouse, but now after freeing the dragon. He has decided to raze Camelot to the ground in revenge for his imprissionment.

"Merlin!" Arthur snapped. Pulling me from my grief filled thoughts. His anger filled eyes holding a spark of fear within.

"What are you doing? The king has called a meeting to discuss the situation. Hurry up and put on my chainmail." He urged. Glancing pointedly at the metal armour in my hands. Swallowing my sorror for now. I nodded. Swiftly moving to do just that. The moment the sword was in Arthur's hands. He charged from the room. Me hot on his heels.

Reaching the double door entrance of the throne room. Arthur paused in his haste. Brushing himself off and catching his breath. Before straightening and walking regal into the room. Where Uther sat on his throne talking to Gauis. Upon our entrance. The king glanced up. A look of relief momentarily flitting across his eyes.

"Ah arthur. Good your here. Gauis has informed me there may be a way to stop this attack after all." Uther stated. Motioning Arthur to stand to his right. Which he quickly did. Once in place all eyes turned to Gauis. Hope filling the room with each second past. Gauis seeing the tension. Awkwardly cleared his throat. Before continuing.

"Yes your highness. I have heard tell of an ancient weapon hidden deep within the Forest of Merendra. Near the foot of the Feorre Mountains near the back is a cave. It is said to lead into the tomb of Ashkanar. Amogst the numerous treasures hidden there is one treasure that has caused even the greatest of men to tremble. It is known as the dragons flame. Its said that only those deemed worthy will be allowed to retrieve the weapon." Gauis explained a hidden glint in his eye that only I caught. Which tells me there is more to this story then Gauis is willing to admit.

"Yes but what does this weapon do?" Arthur prodded. Curiousity plain to see in his eyes.

"Not much is known about the weapons abilities. All I was able to find on it is that it is capable of subdoing even the distant of dragon classes. Including the wyverns." There was a shocked gasp at that. It is well known that if a wyverns finds you, you are all but dead. As its sense of smell once locked on someone never lets them go. They are also extremely fast both on land and the air. Not to mention there impenetrable hide. There skin might as well be made of metal with how hard it is to get past. No the only way to escape a wyvern is to disguise your scent with animal waste and hold your breath until they pass and try not to move. As they can hear even the smallest of sounds. Their only weakness is their lack of sight. So for a weapon to exist that can subdue even them. Its amazing.

"Why hasn't anyone gone after this weapon before?" Uther enquired. His eyes narrowing in suspicion.

"Thats the thing sire. Others have indeed gone after this mysterious weapon, but so far. None of them have ever returned." At this uther fell silent. Seemingly contemplating the pros v.s. the cons. After a moment of thought. He nodded. Turning his gaze to the prince. He clasped his hand on his shoulder.

"Arthur I want you to ride out as soon as possible and find this weapon. It may be our only chance at surviving this attack. Unfortunately because of the attack I can't send any knights with you. So you will have to go it alone."

"Yes father. I won't disappoint you. Come on Merlin." Arthur stated. Squaring his shoulders and exiting the room. Bowing to the king. Gauis and I quickly exited after the prince. The moment we were through the doors. Gauis pulled me forcefully into a hidden alcove. Making sure Arthur hadn't noticed my absence as he walked away. I turned to my uncle. Already guess this is about the information he no doubt left out about the weapon. I was not disappointed.

"Merlin. Theres something I need to tell you about this weapon. Has your mom ever explained to you who your father was?" He tentatively enquired.

"Not at first but just before i left for Camelot. She pulled me aside and gave me this daggar." I statted pulling a ruby incrusted daggar from my braid that I always keep with me. It had a dragon etched into the side.

"Mom said it belonged to my dad. She said that his name was balinor and he was the last dragon king. Just before he was chased from eldador. He gave my mom this daggar. Told her it was a family heirloom that used to belong to his dad, and then his dad before him. It would be passed down from dragon king dad to dragon heir son upon their 16th birthday. Normally he wouldn't have given it to my mom, but the night before he had a vision that warned him that he would be chased from the town by uther and his men. That the future dragon heir would one day need this daggar but unless he gave it to my mom when he did. I would never recieve it. My mom told me she was shocked as that meant she was pregnant and didn't know it yet. Of course at the time they believed i would be a boy since the ability only goes to the first born sons, but whatever. So my dad gave my mom this daggar with explicit instructions to give it to me when i turned 16. They hoped his vision was wrong but the next day. Early in the morning. Uthers men attacked. Father was barely able to escape with his life. So the vision came true. Once will found out I was a witch mother decided it was too dangerous for me to remain. So she gave me the daggar early, but what does this have to do with the weapon?" I asked. Slightly confused.

"Merlin the weapon is the dragon ming ability. It was foretold a long time ago that one day the dragon kings would die out and a bitter dragon would attempt to destroy destiny. It was foretold that there would be a child born to a dishonored dagon king that had the power to save destiny. This child would be faced with a choice. If the wrong choice was made destiny would be broken and the dragon unleased. It will then be up to the child to set things right and stop the dragons rampage but as the child would be a girl. She would not inherit the ability to command dragons. So through the powers of 10 dragon kings. What is known as the dragon flame was created. It was designed so that if the girl proves worthy she could take up the dragon flame and inherit the ability of s dragon king. There will be a trst to get it. They wanted to make sure oy the forseen girl could take up the power so they placed a guardian over it to protect it from greedy hands. You will be tested Merlin and if you fail destiny will never be fixed. Arthur and all of Camelot will die and this time there will be no second chances." Gauis warned. I gulped at this. Realizing this would be my last chance to fix what I unwittingly broke.

"MERLIN WHERE ARE YOU!" Arthur yelled down the hall. Alerting us to the fact our time yogether had come to an end. Taking a deep breath I steeled my nerves. Staring into my uncles tired gray eyes. I made a vow right then and there.

"I won't let you down again Uncle. I will find this dragon flame and save destiny once and for all." With that i turned on my heel and scurried down the hall to a fuming Arthur. A new resolve burning brightly within me. No matter what happens Arthur will not die. If only I knew how wrong I was.
