I woke up with a hand on my shoulder.
"Wake up, princess," Nolan said.
"Excuse you!" I continued. "Is that supposed to be an insult?"
"No, you are a princess."
"Oh...cool."
"Here's your breakfast."
Nolan handed me a white box. I opened it to see three pancakes.
"Thanks, but I'm not hungry," I said.
"You need your energy," Nolan responded.
"Okay."
I ate breakfast. Suddenly there was a knock at the door.
"Maintenance!" The person behind the door announced.
Nolan got up and headed to the door, and opened it. People swarmed the room, and they had jet-black eyes. A person threw me to the ground, and I had a gun placed to the back of my head. They put their foot on my back. I looked at Nolan, and he had fear in his eyes.
"I'm sorry," Nolan said.
"Shut up!" The guy above him demanded.
The person knocked Nolan out with the back of the gun, and I kicked the gun with my legs and shot him with energy in the face. I shot another guy above Nolan and the two people in front of us. Once the dust settled, they disappeared. I grabbed a knocked-out Nolan on the bed. I quickly ran downstairs with Nolan's wallet. Before the person behind the counter could say anything, I handed the money over.
"I need another night." I panicked.
"Oh, okay,"
I headed back upstairs to our room. I sat on the bed, turned on the tv, and tried to catch my breath—an hour passed when Nolan sat up.
"Ow!" He screamed.
I got off the bed and helped Nolan lay back down.
"What the hell happened?" Nolan asked.
"You're out of it. I will explain it tomorrow." I responded.
He tried to get up again.
"No, stay down," I said, putting his hands on his shoulders.
He laid back down.
"I'm supposed to be protecting you, not the other way around," Nolan said.
"Shhh, think of it as me paying back for saving my mom and my life...you need sleep."
"What about the hotel? We need to."
"I took care of it."
I went back to watching tv. I felt Nolan's eyes on me, and they weren't creepy but protective.
"A picture will last longer," I said, not taking my eyes off the tv.
I turned to see his face blushing. I turned fully around.
"Now, go to sleep," I said.
"I can't," Nolan responded.
"What can I do to get you to sleep?"
He offered his hand to me. I was confused, but I grabbed it. We both fell asleep. I woke up to see Nolan pacing.
"What the hell happened?" Nolan demanded.
"You were knocked out," I explained.
"By who?"
"People who tried to kill us."
"Who let them in?"
"You did."
"Why do I feel fine if I was knocked out?"
I looked at him in confusion.
"You feel fine?" I asked.
"What?" Nolan asked.
I looked at my hands and felt my body begin to shake.
"I think I healed you?"
"What?No way!"
Nolan then grabbed a knife and cut his hand open.
"What the hell, Nolan!" I asked.
I quickly grabbed his hand, and I closed my eyes. When I opened them to see a silver aura wrap around our hands. Nolan then released and went to the sink and cleaned his hand, which was healed.
"Wow!" Nolan said with amazement.
Nolan hugged, and we looked at each other. We almost kissed. I broke away; my parents had begun dating way too quickly.
"Nope!" I continued. "I've barely known you for forty-eight hours. We are not pulling what my parents did."
I fell onto the bed, and everything turned white.
