Reiner's Point of View:
Flashback continues
Oh no...H-his breath is getting shallow- he's not mm-moving...What if the health room teacher was right? what if h-he "doesn't survive"? I-I should've ran quicker. Maybe I could've saved him if I reacted more quick. I-It's my fault...
~At the hospital~
"He has a less chance of surviving this surgery" the doctor states, "but we will try our best."
He will be ok, yeah, he will be okay, he will be fine - he will come out alive...I stare at the red glow of the lamp on the top of the door that leads to the operation room. The red glow vanishes as the door opens and Bertolt gets taken down the hallway. His eyes are closed. I start to run.
As I catch up to them, I see him breathing, judging by how his stomach raises and falls. I hold on to his hand, which is big and warm. My muscles loosen up and all the tension is gone from me as we approach the room where Bertolts gonna stay for about 2 months to heal his body.
I watch him as he sleeps comfortably on the hospital bed. I hear footsteps approaching towards us. I turn as I see the doctor who saved Bertolt from dying. I greet him as he sits down on a nearby chair and started to tell me how Bertolt's rib bones stabbed his stomach and his lungs. They were able to take the bone out and replace it to the original spot. "Buuut, we had to take out so much blood out of him..." he states, " ...so he doesn't have enough blood in his body to support him. And also, we don't have enough blood for Bertolt's blood type that he might not live until the next batch of blood gets delivered to this hospital. And another bad news...his body is sensitive to different bloods so if we put a different blood type to substitute his blood, he will most likely die...and...the other hospitals are too far away from here that even if we arrive, he might be already dead in the car...so we can't- can't...do...anything..." I covered my face with my hands. No, this can't be...why? Why? Why?
"BUT! There might be a chance." he exclaims suddenly, that I almost jumped out of my seat. "If your blood type is the same as his, we can use your blood to him. But we need a LOT of blood to support him. So you might have to as well be treated in the hospital if your body is also sensitive to different blood types. We can try? Do you want to?"
I don't hesitate. I nod. "Yes I will"
"OH MY GOSH! Your blood type is the EXACT SAME AS HIS!" The lady exclaims. I rush to Bertolt to tell him, even if he's asleep. As I approach him, I see that he is getting weaker in minutes. I need to hurry. I sit in the chair next to his bed as the doctor puts a needle in my elbow pit. I feel getting drained while I watch the tube turning blood red as it travels to a bag, hanging from the rack to another tube connected to Bertolt's arm. I take a glimpse of him and I freeze. His eyes are open! he stares at me and smiles. I smile back. I ignore the dizzy feelings in me as I stare at him and the tubes until the lady announces " Good job! Now you have to go to the bed next to Mr. Hoovers before you faint. Hurry." I blindly stand up and try to walk straight to my bed. I feel dizzy and I can't thinkkk...I need air...I feel myself laying down on a white fluffy thing...
Then all goes black.
