Lola rushed out of bed to get ready. It was like a déjà vu. Right when all this started. She surely wasn't going to make it. As she rushed out the door and ran around the corner, she could just see her bus shutting the doors.
"Wait!" Lola shouted as the bus turned the corner,
"Please wait!" She shouted for the final time before the bus came to a grinding halt half way around the round-a-bout.
"You were lucky." The bus driver said, "next time, I not gonna stop."
Lola sighed with relief, and sat down in the last available seat. When she sat down, she turned to find Eve. When she finally caught her eye, she smiled, but Eve turned around harshly.
Oh, okay.
Lola took this moment to do some revision for a maths exam she had today. She was terrified.
Once the bus stopped, she packed up her things and was the last one off the bus.
" Again, sorry for keeping you, I won't be late again..." She told the bus driver who then replied with a nod and she got off the bus.
Lola tried to catch up with Eve and even called her name. But she still would stop.
"Eve!... Eve!..."
"What?!" She finally said angrily
" Why are you ignoring me?"
"Well, I don't know! Maybe you should ask Zack, seen as he's known you for longer?!" Eve shouted.
"What?"
"Oh, never mind." She said and stormed off into the school.
Lola was confused. She didn't know what she meant by that. She decided to catch up to her, but she had already gone somewhere, and Lola didn't know where.
Lola sat on a bench near the school gates and did some revision. It was very cold and windy, but she wanted to see if there was someone she knew who are coming. So she stayed and kept a close eye at the door.
Eventually, Zack came in.
"Hey!" He said in his usually bright voice.
"Hey."
"What's wrong?"
"Oh, nothing, I'm fine, it's just... Eve's mad at me and I don't know why..."
"Oh..." He said and sat down next to me. "Do you wanna go inside? We could go in the library? It has radiators so we can warm up!"
"Okay." She replied beginning to feel happier, but Eve was still on her mind.
"So..." Zack said as they walked into the library. "Do you have any idea what could have made her mad?"
"Ummm... No. I lost her pen on Wednesday but... She said it was fine. Then again, she was quiet on Thursday.
" Nope, not that." He said quickly. "Eve isn't the person to get worked up over a pen. It should be quite a big deal to her..."
"Oh I don't know!" Lola replied getting frustrated. " I'll talk to her at lunch and we'll see then."
-----------At lunch.....-----------
Lola then went out for lunch with Zack. They went to the canteen and got some food. After they finished, Zack went somewhere else and Lola looked for Eve. She finally found her on the tiny top floor of the school.
"Eve!" she shouted. "Eve wait!"
" What! I thought I told you to go away!"
"You... Didn't..."
"Oh... Well..anyway, that's not the point!
"Why are you mad at me?"
"It just... You've been hanging around with Zack a lot and I feel a bit left out."
"Well... You can come with me! Come talk to me and Zack all together!"
"I do, but no one talks to me... So I just sit there quietly..."
"Oh, okay." Lola said. She didn't even realise she was leaving her out.
"Anyway, why do you hang around with him anyway? I mean, he's nice but I've known you since primary school. You've only met him last week!"
"I... It's just..." Lola was struggling, she wanted to tell Eve about the dream land, but she want aloud. If she told her, she could be kicked out without even starting the training.
"I... We... We've met each other before!" Lola lied."Really? Where?"
"Umm... Swimming!"
"Okay... But you haven't gone swimming in four years. How could you remember what he looked like after four years? He must have changed?" Eve said. And Lola could tell she knew it was a lie.
"Okay, I never met him in swimming. But I can't tell you the truth because... Well... I just can't."
"Why? It can't be that important?"
"Okay, you really wanna know?"
"Yes."
"You won't believe me if I do." Lola said bluntly.
"Okay. I will believe you what ever you say. Even if you say I go cheese trampolining with him and you need to discuss tactics." Eve said, and giggled a bit after. "That isn't it, is it?"
"No! That's not it. What is that anyway?" Lola said trying to avoid the question.
"I don't know, maybe you bounce on the che- hey! Don't avoid the question!"
"Okay sorry, umm... Okay, me and Zack both have special dreams." Lola said slowly. "There is this dream land... Thingy and we have to try and save people from having bad dreams and we need training to go on adventures. Soo, yeah..."
"Oh, okay, are you sure?"
"See, I told you that I knew you weren't going to believe me. And now I'm gonna get kicked out..." Lola said emotionally.
"No, I do believe you, it's just, it's very strange isn't it. Knowing that someone is in your dreams making them good. And you can't even see them!"
"Yeah... It is now I think about it."
"Well, sorry I forced it out of you. I just felt a bit left out and lonely."
"It okay. I just got a bit too excited and I kinda forgot. I'll tell you how it goes tonight tomorrow." Lola smiled weakly.
"Okay. Let's go to Spanish."
-------------- Before Lola went to bed---------------
"Goodnight mum!" Lola called. Also like a déjà vu. She climbed into bed, her heart pounding. She fell asleep instantly.
Her feet touched the soft cloud of the dream land. But her arms rested on a wooden table. Then she just realise what was going on
" Her we have miss Lola Thomas in the court for exposing her friend of this world. Do you plead guilty or not guilty?"
