Two Years Later
Dawn looked at herself in the mirror, she looked stunning. Ileen had done an amazing job. Her hair was braided into a sort of halo around her glittering golden crown that showed she was the queen of all domains. In two years, they had united all the domains under the light crown, and fixed the history books. All the previous monarchs of each domain were now ambassadors, elected by their people. The people had accepted Dawn so quickly, it shocked her. Sure some didn't take to her at first, but she had won over even the most disbelieving of people in the end. With Cumula's help, of course.
Everyone in the group, except Dawn and Cumula, became a humanitarian group and went around helping those in need. Meanwhile, Cumula and Dawn united the Light and Dark Domains, next year the Dark Domain would be able to elect their own ambassador. But today wasn't about any of that. Today was a day of celebration, of being united. Finally, after two years, Cumula and Dawn were getting married.
Cumula had proposed with a beautiful silver ring with a blue stone in it at a peace festival 3 months ago. Dawn couldn't possibly say no, she and Cumula loved each other too much. Dawn was overjoyed to get to be with Cumula for the rest of her life. And today was the day it would be official. Dawn wasn't nervous, at least up until this moment. She was going to be married to the love of her life.
Married. Even the thought of that word made her heart sing with pure bliss.
Gazing into the reflective glass, she studied the girl in the mirror who, had she not known better, would've thought it were someone much different, much more regal than the girl who constantly tried to escape the terrors of history class and corsets. Her crown shimmered brightly against her dirty-blonde hair, and her makeup brought out the natural beauty only Cumula seemed to see on a daily basis. Her wedding dress only made her glow even brighter. It had a huge skirt and no straps. It was white and all sparkle. Like a cloud. Like Cumula.
The girl in the mirror was beautiful. She was no longer Iris. No longer afraid of messing up, not being perfect enough. She was Dawn. She was enough for everyone. Sure she made mistakes, but they were easily fixed with the help of her friends. Storm and Ember had finally gotten married about a year ago. Ripper, her closest friend, told Dawn that he was to propose to Jade any day now. Everything was new, it was just how Dawn had always wanted it to be. It was perfect.
A light knock on the door signaled it was time. Dawn walked over slowly, placed her hand on the handle, and hesitated. Is this really what she wants? Was she good enough for Cumula? No, she thought, we love each other, I must go through with it. She opened the door and the music began. Walking down the aisle, she noticed most of the people she didn't recognize, but right in the front row were her friends and family. Storm, Ember, Ripper, Jade, Juniper, and even Ivy were there. Dawn smiled, tears starting to spill down her cheeks, looking at her friends waving and yelling for her.
Dawn began her way up the stairs to the altar and there stood Cumula in a white suit, looking absolutely gorgeous. Somehow, someone had gotten her to curl her hair, and there was no makeup, only natural beauty, highlighted by the suit. They took each other's hands and stared into the others eyes while the priest began speaking the vows.
"Do you, Cumula, take Dawn to be your wife?" He asked.
"I do." Cumula replied, smiling, still looking at Dawn as if she was her whole world.
"And do you, Dawn, take Cumula to be your wife?" He asked.
"I do." Dawn replied, starting to cry even more.
"Well then, by the power invested in me I now pronounce you married? You may kiss the bride."
That was all Dawn needed to hear before she jumped into Cumula's arms and kissed her. Cumula lifted her up off the ground and spun her around while everyone cheered. As they were walking out the door, towards the carriage, Dawn asked:
"Cumula, are you sure I'm the one? I just don't think I'm good enough for you."
"Dawn, I love you." Cumula said, putting her hands on Dawn's cheeks and looking her in the eyes, "No matter your faults. You're perfect in every way."
"I love you too." Dawn replied, tear brimming her eyes once again, everything would finally be normal. Dawn and Cumula could grow old together, raise a family together. No matter what happened, they would always find each other.
