The dense, polluted smog filled every crevasse and crack in the city, including the throats of the choking pedestrians. As they stamped along to work, the citizens could be heard muttering swears and hurling insults at the very ground they trod and the city they were unfortunate enough to call home. If it had a real name in the past, it certainly didn't now, and the citizens referred to it simply as Desolation: this being the only suitable word to characterise every street and building. As the thick fumes did penetrate every person's sense of smell, so did a booming voice from above penetrate their hearing every morning. "Rejoice, the Minotaur. Venerate the Minotaur. Bless the Minotaur" were the words that echoed in shops, offices, and living rooms across Desolation every day. Along with this chant, the city was greeted each morning by the face of the Minotaur himself. His countenance

Dominic wakes up, examines city for himself with Architect eyes, hates the concrete jungle, dreams of outside. 

We learn how he was rehabilitated by Minotaur away from Helena and separated from his home outside, forced to be a cop.

Dominic dreams of getting back at Desolation and the Minotaur. Engineers Architect Manifesto volume 95, Murder is Art.

News broadcasts condemning Architect, announces new Sweetie propaganda film "Heart of the Country" to which workers says "ach bleedin propaganda bs", Dom "melb loves ya". Dom kindly hands pamphlet off to criminal.
