"My husband," slowly raised the Snape brow. For a moment, he wondered if the woman was actually addressing him with that title. "Wouldn't you want to have closure?"

'Wouldn't you want to have closure?' He tasted the words himself in his head. 'What a bold request when your blindness becomes home, Petunia.' However, that was understandable; she had been trapped in this house made of amber for too long and could no longer stand with those shadows from each blank corner of the room, rimming stares around her in a vacancy hush.

In this small house in Cokeworth, Severus was painfully aware of how she lost herself every time, frozen in foetal positions, tangled in the thorns of her fear in the wake of every touch.

Petunia hated it; she hated how a certain dark-haired wizard with green eyes treated her like dirt, stealing her sister away from her, and also Severus, who kept sticking to Lily like glue even after being married to her. Since they were young, after both of them entered their lives, all she ever heard from Lily was "magic this," "magic that," and "Severus said." She saw red, and cracks started to form in the relationship between her and her sister.

Then came that fateful day where her parents were killed in a raid by those dark wizards that attacked ordinary people, forever buried in absentia.

Could anyone hear her vitreous heart breaking?

Lily had her magic and friends, unlike Petunia, who had none at that time. She didn't have a good education, making her unable to find any job that didn't involve low wages that a person could barely survive on, and it would also be a far shot from a happy life. Realizing her situation, she knew that her life would become increasingly difficult without her parents to rely on and only a small income to survive on.

Her future was bleak, and with few options, she hurried to find a man who was able to provide for her and a home; thus, she married Severus Snape.

Maybe in that rush of time, she just wanted to be saved. Maybe she didn't want to live a life where everything felt empty and was just wondering how to alleviate the hollow feeling of never being complete. Still, Lily, the oh-so-perfect sister, didn't approve of Severus, of course. But how could she understand the feelings of Petunia, who had tried her best, which in this case was Severus? If there had been anyone better, Petunia would have immediately jumped ship, but there wasn't.

Severus had always been passive, rather neutral to her compared to any of the men Petunia had ever had around her. Maybe she was also a hopeless romantic, dreaming of people who felt like comfort. Like the warmth of the fire when it's pouring outside and the cold is unforgiving. With oneiric gaze in somatic days, maybe Petunia always wanted someone who was going to be there for her, like the rays of sunshine by her window everyday, and so, that's just how the marriage happened.
