~~ 2 years later - Potomac, Virginia, May ~~
They couldn't have asked for nicer weather. It was a sunny and warm spring afternoon, with the lightest breeze blowing, the wind ruffling Lisa's black hair as it blew through the nature preserve that overlooked the Potomac River.
"I still can't believe how beautiful you look," Lisa whispered, out of the corner of her mouth.
"Focus, Lili," Jennie whispered back nervously while blushing.
Their officiant smiled at them both before continuing to read from the small book she held.
"A family is a work of art, built by two artists working together with a common vision. Lisa, Jennie, you have brought the pieces of your work of art that is to be your family together, and today you are joining those pieces with the bonds of love."
Jennie sniffed, and dabbed at her eye with the silk handkerchief she was holding in her free hand, clutching a small bouquet of red tulips in her other. Her long, white silk dress shone in the sun.
Lisa, resplendent in a matching dress and holding a matching bouquet, smiled at her.
Ella stood between them holding a single red tulip, in a pretty white lace dress of her own, complete with pink silk ribbons in her hair and gleaming white patent leather shoes.
"Do you, Jennie Kim, take Lisa Manoban to be your wife, to love, cherish and support, so long as you both shall live?" the officiant asked.
"I do," Jennie said, the slightest quiver in her voice.
"And do you, Lisa Manoban, take Jennie Kim to be your wife, to love, cherish and support, so long as you both shall live?"
"You bet I do!" Lisa said with enthusiasm, bringing a soft chorus of laughter from the crowd of friends and family looking on.
"And do you, Lisa Manoban, take Ella Kim to be your daughter, to love, cherish and support, as though born of your body, so long as you both shall live?"
Lisa looked down at a now seven year old Ella and they beamed at each other. "I do, for the rest of my life, Pumpkin." She had signed the adoption papers earlier that morning with Jongin's blessing.
"And do you, Ella Kim, accept Lisa Manoban to be your mother, to love and cherish her always?"
"She's my Mommy Lisa!" Ella exclaimed, hugging her legs, to more laughter.
"Then by the powers vested in me by the state of Virginia, I declare you lawful spouses, and family. Ladies and gentlemen, may I be the first to present, Mrs. Jennie Kim, Mrs. Lisa Manoban, and their daughter, Ella Kim!"
The onlookers erupted into applause and cheers as Lisa stepped forward to kiss Jennie, then leaned over to scoop up Ella in her arms so the three could share a hug.
"I'll love you always, Lisa," Jennie said, through tears.
"Back atcha, Jen," Lisa said, then leaned forward to kiss her bride again.
Ella giggled, then chanted, "Mommy and Mommy Lisa sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
