Maya lived a pretty regular life, she was the captain of the Seattle Fire Department and lived in a house next to her sister who was pregnant with twins and was due any day now.
"Hey Anna, do you need any last-minute things for the twins?" Maya asked her sister.
"Actually think I'm good, but if you wanna get them their outfits to wear home," Anna said smiling.
"Oh yes, I will go do that tomorrow," Maya said excitedly.
"Also if you wanna help me pack my hospital bag," Anna said grinning.
"Ugh, fine I knew you were gonna ask me to help, can't Robert help" Maya asked laughing as she grabbed the overnight bag and started packing.
"Robert is at work sisie," Anna said shaking her head.
"Excuses! Excuses!" Maya said jokingly.
They packed her bag and then once Robert got home Maya went back home to feed her dog Murphy and grab a bite to eat. After that, she ate a quick dinner and went to bed. The next morning Maya was woken up by her phone ringing.
"Hello" Maya said still half asleep.
"Maya it's Robert, Anna's water broke we are on the way to the hospital" Robert said out of breath.
Maya heard Anna yelling in the back. "Holy shit ok, I'll be there as soon as I can."
"We are going to Grey Sloan Memorial," Robert said.
"Ok I'll be there soon, you got this Anna just breathe I'll see you soon!"
"Ahh fuck that!" Anna yelled out in pain.
"Damn ok, good luck Robert," Maya said laughing.
Maya hung up and quickly got ready, then she ran to Zara and got a gray onesie with a bear on it and a tan onesie with a cheetah on it for the babies.
(Robert) - we are on floor 2 room 1946
(Maya)- thanks pulling into hospital now
Maya got in the elevator and pressed floor 2 and headed up to see Anna.
"Hey guys," Maya said as she walked in.
"She's finally on the epidural so she is very happy," said Robert laughing.
"Oh yeah, I feel great honestly, like the best I've ever felt in my life, my god."
"Well that's so good, got the babies their outfits," said Maya setting the bag down to grab the onesies out to show them.
"Aw stop those are so cute they will love them, thank you," said Anna.
"Of course, anything for them, did you finally decide the names yet?" asked Maya excitedly.
"We do actually, we finally agreed, Ellis for the boy and Ellen for the girl."
"Wow, those were my two favorites I absolutely love those names," said Maya.
They kept talking about the twins and how excited they are and then a doctor came in.
"Hello momma, I'm the new OBGYN taking over for yours she got called out for a emergency. I am Dr. Deluca."
Maya felt all the air leave her lungs. It was like she fell in love on the spot she had never in her life seen a woman so beautiful.
"How are you feeling is the epidural taking the edge off?" asked Dr. Deluca.
"Oh yeah, that stuff is magical" Anna said giggling.
Dr. Deluca smiled "Good, yes yes it is" she giggled. "I'm gonna check to see how dilated you are."
Maya could not tear her eyes away from the doctor.
"You are 8 centimeters" Dr. Deluca informed her.
"So close, ugh I can't wait," Anna said.
"Is this your husband?" Asked Dr. Deluca pointing to Robert.
"Yes, that is my husband Robert and my sister Maya."
"Nice to meet you both," said Dr. Deluca shaking their hands Maya getting butterflies just from that small gesture.
"H-hi nice to meet you too" stuttered Maya.
Dr. Deluca's eyes lingered on Maya for a minute.
"Alright momma I will be in to check on you again in just a little, but if you need me just hit your call button" she
said leaving the room.
"WOW sisie you couldn't be any less subtle," Anna said laughing.
"Anna she's perfect, that's the hottest girl I've ever seen," said Maya still in awe.
"Sisie, do not hit on my doctor," Anna said laughing.
"Oh she can't flirt, she's too nervous," Robert said laughing as well.
"I hate you both" Maya said red-faced.
They all continued to banter and then Anna had a huge contraction. Robert and Maya rushing over to hold her hands.
"These are very close, Maya hit the call button," Robert said as Maya hit the button.
"Alright let's check you again," said Dr. Deluca. "Ok, it's time to push."
Anna started pushing. "Ok she's gonna break my hand," Maya said in pain.
"Same, you're stronger than I thought babe," Robert said laughing.
"You guys need to shut up or I'll break both of your hands" Anna yelled in pain.
After a few more pushes Ellis was there.
"Alright momma baby boy is here, now let's get this baby girl give me a big push you got this" Dr. Deluca told her handing Ellis to the nurse.
After a few more pushes Ellen arrived.
"And here is the baby girl, congrats momma you did it, you have two healthy twins," Dr. Deluca told her handing Anna the babies.
Anna, Robert, and Maya were all crying and beyond happy.
"Congrats again, I'm gonna give you all some time, the nurse will be in later to take them to the nursery but if you need me just hit the button," Dr. Deluca said her eyes meeting Maya's again.
Maya's throat went dry trying to maintain eye contact as long as she could. Once Dr. Deluca left the room, Maya made her way over to Anna grabbing Ellis to hold.
"He's perfect," she said.
"Yes they are, also don't think we didn't see that look you guys just gave each other, go talk to her," said Anna.
"It was nothing she literally just looked at me, plus she is working."
