memories of war, distant shots of gunfire and screaming. a dreadful ringing in his ears and a blinding flash of light. his hands covered in his own blood , eyes blinded by a crimson haze. everything hurt, and yet he didn’t feel it. not really. it wasn't as if his body was in pain; no, his soul felt much worse. it felt hollow and broken and empty and all he could think of were the tears spilling down his cheeks like raindrops.
he remembered his son . He thought back to the last moments he had seen him; holding him in his arms as his child's breath stopped and his cries ceased. then, a sudden burst of white light.
