Peach hair had stayed unconscious through the whole thing.

The day turned into night as he missed the land beneath us, the stars above, the ocean. He missed the lizard's scales pricking onto his skin as well as the suffocating grip the dragon had on both of us. Most importantly, he had missed the pain I felt when we were thrown on the ground.

Mind you, I fell first and then his body was thrown on top of me.

I pushed peach hair to the side and looked up to see the dragon staring at us menacingly while growling. We were most likely the size of bugs compared to the flying lizard. Its wings were red as well as its whole body, eyes pale green with its pupils changing shapes.

It was terrifying if I had to be honest. It was flashing its teeth while keeping direct eye contact. Who wouldn't be petrified when fate decideded to make you a meal. Even if I tried to run, it would snatch me like it did last time. So I stayed frozen, trying not to flinch every time I felt the giant lizard moving.

A cough, a loud one erupts from my right side.

Two pairs of eyes move towards the noise.

"What is...this shit in my mouth..." He was facing the floor, still coughing.

I almost didn't notice we were in the middle of nowhere, on a desert specifically. Nothing in the distance except for structured sand.

His head slowly turned to me, I could see sand grains stuck on his cheek. Then he gave me the biggest smile with bleeding lips. He stood up confidently with one hand on his waist and the other reaching down to me.

"I knew I could save you, civilian," I could feel his pride turn into fear while watching the dragon move right behind him. I'm sure he felt the monster's breath as well as I did, my blood ran cold at the close distance of it.

"In a second, I need you to hold my hand and run as fast as we can," He stayed in the same position, not moving an inch. I doubted we would move anywhere.

"Now," I may have had fear, yet I followed, jumping to hold his hand.

My legs were on fire, it stung on every step but I had to keep going. The sand didn't make it any better. Peach hair almost tripped. I almost did too.It kept on going back and forth while we smelt the dragon coming closer. The smell was the same from the house, burnt.

"WHAT'S THE PLAN?" I managed to scream out, noticing him trying to go through this pouch he had at the side.

"IS THAT GRENADE?" I screamed again, this time I felt like I needed to run away from this man.

"DON'T WORRY CIVILIAN, WITH THIS-," He gets cut off by a rough scream behind us. It was over. My life was over before it even started. I could feel the dragon waiting to jump and pounce on us.

Peach hair then let go of the grenade, throwing it behind us. I expected a big explosion but I heard nothing when it dropped. I looked behind while we were still running, a big purple smoke covered everything with no sight of the lizard except for its silhouette.

I felt my hand pulling towards a new direction. I screamed, tripping on the sand. Peach hair screamed along, falling next to me. Both of us were breathing heavily, my mouth was dry and I could sleep for a week if I could.

Another scream.

No one could mistake it as ours.

Both of us looked back in unison, watching as the dark silhouette rushed closer to us each second. Waiting for its shriek to stop and eat us whole. We stayed there, we were both tired, maybe we accepted our fate. I only closed my eyes to make my end come peacefully.

And it fell. A big storm of sand slapped my face, the dust floating in the air I breathed in and I wondered.

What is luck?
