Unexpected Knockers

Wei Ying ran as fast as he could, back to the Jingshi.

"Running is not allowed in Cloud Recesses." The voice in his head chanted as he went, hoping no one saw him.

Though to be fair, that was probably the least of their worries today.

He stifled a laugh but it fought back, bubbling up through his chest and bursting out anyway.

Today was a day of firsts.

Normally, he tried to follow all the rules, even the stupid ones because he didn't want anyone to say anything derogatory about himself to Lan Zhan. He didn't care so much about himself, but he hated that Lan Zhan was made to feel bad about anything relating to himself.

Lan Zhan was wonderful about it anyway, telling him not to worry.

"Wei Ying should be Wei Ying." He often told him.

And Wei Ying wanted to be...just not today.

Today was an emergency.

He burst into the Jingshi in a flurry of wind and loose leaves, slamming the doors behind him in his hurry.

Lan Zhan, beautiful man and love of his life, looked up smiling.

Wei Ying thought, if he could look at that face forever, he was willing to pay any price.

"Um...Lan Zhan..." he stopped speaking because...because he had no idea how to continue.

Lan Zhan stood up.

The man never did anything in half measures, and that included the simple action of standing up.

So elegant and fit, he could rise like a sword. Without any effort and looking fabulous while he did it.

He walked all the way up to Wei Ying and brought his hands up to cradle Wei Ying's face.

Wei Ying had totally forgotten why he was there.

In those few seconds it had taken for his eyes to fall upon the marvel that was his husband, Wei Ying lost all capability to think. And who could blame him? When it was the brilliant, exceptionally handsome and captivating individual who stood in front of him.

"Wei Ying?"

His deep voice drifted into Wei Ying's ears, a hundred times better than Emperor's smile.

Wei Ying blinked up at him.

"You look like you are in a hurry." Lan Zhan helpfully supplied, raising a curious brow.

Wei Ying smacked his own forehead.

"Oh my god! That's totally your fault, you know! If my husband wasn't so gorgeous to begin with, I might actually be able to remember stuff."

Lan Zhan frowned at his action, his soft lips kissing the harmed skin.

"There is no need to hurt yourself." He cautioned. "Please explain."

Wei Ying was melting.

But there was something very important that he needed to tell Lan Zhan.

"Well...um...you see...there's a problem."

Lan Zhan looked deeply into silver eyes, searching for the answer. Wei Ying was simply stunning, and because he had obviously been running, his beautiful face was flushed pink and ever so attractive.

His days spent outdoors had given him a healthy glow, and Lan Zhan was completely enraptured by him.

Tiny little freckles dusted across his cheeks and over his cute button nose.
