Just because you have the car, the perfect home, the dream closet, and the beautiful husband that everyone adores doesn't mean that your life is as perfect as it seems.
Not everything is an Instagramable moment. Behind every picture perfect post, there lies the truth.
The makeup stained pillows, the curtains torn off the rods, the dishes scattered throughout the house and the piles of clothes from being tossed off the second story hallway railing onto the living room floor. All paired with half signed divorce papers and a mostly empty bottle of wine partially spilled on the marble countertops.
"So this is how you want to end things..?" His voice was soft, and his green eyes flicked upwards from the ground. "Tossing away the last 8 years of our lives like it meant nothing?"
Nothing? He really thinks that they meant nothing? Our walls were adorned with photos of the last 8 years of memories, filling our hallways and our photo albums, and he thinks that it meant nothing? "No Daniel, it didn't mean nothing," I replied in a hushed tone, not meeting his gaze that I feel piercing my skin. "Things changed.. You changed..." I quietly added as he took a step closer to me, immediately feeling his mood change.
"Maia, please... Just give me one more chance. I can fix it, I can be the man that you married... The one you made those vows to... The one you fell in love with all those years ago." Daniel's voice broke as he pleaded, his hand just gently grazing the very tips of fingers trying to grasp onto something that was no longer there. He knew it just as well as I did that he couldn't just 'fix' things despite how much we both wished he could. At this point we both stood there in the hallway of our home, tears running down our faces as we both finally came to the same conclusion....
