the light within my lantern~ airy x reader (hfjone)

I woke up the next morning to see airy still next to me. This stuck me a weird because he usually wakes up a lot earlier then me. Eventually I got up and sat at the small table next to the bed and waited for airy to wake up.

About 30 minutes passed before I just got up and went outside. I sat on a wood bench airy had made and watched the sky though the trees. I was so deep in thought that I didn't even realize airy had sat down next to me. "Oh shit- uh hey airy"

He wouldn't look at me and instead looked down and said "do you want to know who that man was?"
I looked at him and then looked down "well he was Liam, right?" I said half smiling and trying to light up the mood. "Well yeah but he- ment a lot to me" he said. "What do you mean?" I said nervously. " To make a very long story short, he used to live here, well technically was stuck here, just like you. But, we grew close. And we had nothing but each other, for 9 years. Then as soon as he found a way out, he just left, like I ment nothing to him. Eventually it came out he was just using me so-"

He stopped in his words and stood up. "I should go" he said, but before he could get a chance to leave I stood up and grabbed him by the arm. "Hey no your not going Anywhere, and I'm sorry he did that to you. But I'm not going to do that. I'm here with you forever, and if I find a way out I'm taking you with me"

His head popped up at the word "forever" and looked into my eyes as he fully turned towards me and we were starting at each other.

He didn't say anything, all he did was look at me. I saw his eyes wonder to my lips a couple of times as he got closer and closer until we were inches apart and his cold hand was on my face. I was about to go in for the kiss until I heard him say " I- I think I love you"

My eyes widened at those 3 words I had never heard from anyone before. But before I could process my feelings airy kissed me, very gentle and soft this time. This was unlike any other kiss we had. It was soft, and sweet. He got in closer and moved his hand to my waist to pull me in.

Eventually we parted, and we were back looking at each other. I was definitely an overthinker and I would never think of saying I love you this soon. But, after that kiss everything was answered for me, and knowing that this was the last thing I should be doing, the absolute last thing....

"I love you too airy"
