Sunday 1st September 2019

Rain was hitting the windows on 50 Farquhar Road but that didn't dampen Autumns excitement. Her trunk was packed at the foot of her bed and Athena was hooting happily in her cage on top of it. Autumn had been reading about the wizarding world since her trip to Diagon alley and had been getting more and more ecstatic each day. The day she had been waiting for had finally arrived. September 1st. The day she would be leaving to go to hogwarts.

It was only 7 o'clock but Adam was already loading Autumns trunk into their boot because he didn't want to get stuck in traffic. It was a 2 and 1/2 hour drive so they would get there at about 10 o'clock if they left soon which gave them an hour to find platform 9 and 3/4 and say goodbye to their daughter properly. The boot was just about big enough for all of Autumns things to fit into and it only took Adam about 15 minutes to get the contents in so they were on the road rather early.

Autumn was listening to her Taylor Swift playlist in the back of the car staring out the window. Jack had been dropped off at their grandparents house earlier so he didn't get too bored but Gabby had come along to say goodbye to her sister with their parents. It was about 8 o'clock when Autumn started to get nervousness mixed in with her excitement. What if she got there and she was horrible at magic. She'd read all her spell books through several times before coming but what if that wasn't enough. She was sure all the other students would have prepared too so she probably had a disadvantage being born into a non-magical family. She tried to distract her self by singing along to mr perfectly fine as it came on.

Gabby pulled the earphones out of Autumns phone so she could hear the music too seeing as Autumn was already singing out loud. They started singing duets to all their favourite songs and before they knew it they were at kings cross. It was about 10 o'clock when they got there so they got out the car and decided to find the cafe before they found the station. Adam pulled Autumns trunk out of the car and lifted Athena's cage onto the top of it whilst Jenny went to find a luggage trolley.

Autumn had a carry on bag where she had a water bottle, book, her headphones and some food for the journey. She slung it over her shoulder and walked just behind her parents with Gabby. Gabby squeezed her hand and dragged her forwards into the cafe and they sat at a table together whilst their parents orders drinks.

Once they had finished, they left the cafe and went to the place McGonagall had said the platform would be. She had said to walk into the wall at the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Autumn had found this idea rather ludicrous but she thought she'd give it a go. At worst she'd look a bit silly walking into a wall.

They had found the right platforms but couldn't find the barrier to 9 and 3/4. Adam checked his watch, 10:30. "Ok let's be logical here we can wait for a few minutes and see if anyone else knows where to go. We'll look for other kids with steamer trunks and birds and ask them where the platform is yeah?" He suggested. Seeing as none of them had a better plan, they agreed and waited for about 10 minutes.

Autumn saw a girl who looked about her age with red hair skipping happily next to her mother, she could have been an older version of her they were so similar. The mother was pushing a trolley and a trunk. She was closely followed by two older dark haired boys bickering each pushing another trolley and their father also dark haired with circular glasses, trying to separate them.

Adam had noticed them too and walked up to the father. Autumn and Gabby followed him closely and Jenny pushed the trolley behind. "Excuse me mate" Adam said to the man. He looked at him and smiled indicating for his family to stop walking too. "How can I help you?" The man said. "Are your kids going to hogwarts, we're struggling to find the entrance." Adam replied. "Yeah we're headed there now come on we'll show you the entrance." He said walking on. Adam fell into step with the man and they started chatting to eachother, chuckling. The two boys had stopped bickering both of them looking at Gabby and Autumn curiously. The girl hadn't started skipping again instead she walked over to Autumn and Gabby and introduced herself.
