"Past the point of no return, the finale threshold. The bridge is crossed so stand and watch it burn! We've past the point of no return!" I took my hands and uncovered the cape, not knowing who I would find under it. I staggered backward, shocked. It was Erik! He was the one I had been singing with! "Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime. Leave me save me from my solitude. Say you want me with you here beside you. Anywhere you go let me go-" and then I could take it anymore. I pulled his mask off. He screamed and dragged me towards his lair. Setting fire to the stage as he went. When we got to the lair, he let go of my hand. I whirled around, fury burning in my eyes. "This was all part of your plan, wasn't it? To get me to almost like you and then to make me perform your opera with you! Just so people could recognize you!" I looked at him, calming down a little. "I didn't do it just so they could recognize me. I did it for you." He said those words so quiet I could hardly hear him. I went over to him and put a hand on the disfigured side of his face. He hesitantly clasped my hand in his own. My eyes softened and I whispered, "your music is beautiful." He looked up at me, and for a second I could see the hurt and despair he was feeling. He then straightened up and the moment was gone.

I groaned, not because I am hurt or anything, but because I have had this feeling for the past few days and I just can't take it anymore. The worst part is, I don't know what it is. I don't know how to describe it either, so I can't tell anyone. Not that I have millions of people to talk to down here anyway, Erik never is around, and it's not like I want to say how I'm feeling to him either. I got up and walked around the tunnels. And then I heard a noise, and it didn't sound like Erik. I rounded the corner to investigate. It was a man, a young man who I have never seen before. He had his back to me so he couldn't see me. "Monsieur, are you lost?" I asked, trying to keep the surprise out of my voice. He turned around, obviously surprised to see a girl down here. "No, I was just exploring." And then he got real close and said in a low voice, "don't you know who lives down here? The Phantom!" At the words "the Phantom" my face turned white.

I managed a horse laugh. "The Phantom? He's been dead for years!" I said, trying to keep a blank expression. "No, no, one of the crew workers, a Jaiden Collan, was here yesterday and he saw a shadow! But it wasn't just an ordinary shadow, it was him! The shadow was strange, and the face! Oh the face! He said it was like looking at a monster!" I tried to look doubtful, I wanted the man to stop talking about Erik. So enough Erik is going to find out what the people up there have been saying and then who knows what he will do? I tried to scare the man so he would leave. "Well, if all that you're is true-" the man cut me off to say, "oh, it is!" I tried not to show my annoyance and kept on talking. ".....Then you'd better leave before he comes!" I hissed. "Oh! You're right!" The men scrambled to leave, almost tripping over his own legs. I smiled a small smile when he left, chucking to myself. But when I got to the lair, I wished the man was still there. At least he would have kept me from seeing this.
