Chapter one

Laurel Hell

The Sacred Ice Academy was becoming more visible as Laura, Mary, and Ms. Mayhem flew closer to the school. Laura was terrified to go to school due to her parents homeschooling her all her life. Laura's parents decide to send her to S.I.A after Inferno took over.

S.I.A is a special school that takes different types of animal breeds who have Abilities to help train their powers to protect themselves from Inferno, Caleb Tombstone, the youngest dragon to ever take over an entire dragon kingdom. The school helps these kids shape-shift into humans and teaches them human culture to blend in with them and be safe from Inferno.

Ms. Mayhem and Mary were talking to each other on the way there. Laura was zoning off, thinking of all the bad things that could happen at the school. She's afraid of Inferno, terrified at most. She's afraid the school can't protect the students from him. Laura is the type of person to fear a lot of things, giving her trust issues.

They made it to the school after a five-hour-long flight. Laura and Mary lived in the bottom part of the Northern Ice Kingdom, and the school is at the top of the kingdom.

"Well, here we are!" Ms Mayhem exclaimed, " First before you guys can enter the school, I'm going to need to give you a small cup of human blood, you need to drink it to be able to shape-shift into a human! It's a requirement made by the school administrators."

Laura stared at Ms Mayhem as if she were a mad woman.

" You'll be fine, I promise. It's not a lot, it's just a small sip." She said, oblivious to the fact that Laura doesn't consent to this. Not one bit. Ms Mayhem handed the small medicine cup of human blood to both girls. Mary drank it right away to get the taste out while Laura was contemplating whether to do it or not.

Laura felt droplets of sweat coming down her head. Her hands were shaking as she put the cup closer to her face. She swallowed it fast, thinking, 'Is this safe?' Ms. Mayhem looked at the both of them, waiting as if something were to happen. Nothing happened. She waited a couple of minutes, but still nothing. Laura looked at Mary and then at Ms Mayhem. Mary then turned into a human.

A couple of minutes passed when Laura did the same. Laura looked freaked out that she wasn't a dragon anymore. She was human!

"Now, I know it seems scary, but you can always change back by drinking dragon blood, but you need to stay in this form while you're at school and in the human realm. It's a strict rule." Ms Mayhem informed the scared-looking girls. "You can go into the school. If you will, please follow me." The girls did as they told and followed Ms. Mayhem into the school. It was large and probably held a lot of students. It held a lot of students. Ms Mayhem stopped in front of a door that had her name on it and turned to face them.

"This is my office if you need anything go ahead and knock on my door." She said with a friendly smile. "I will create your schedule in just a moment. I will have a student give you guys a tour around the school. Once you guys finish the tour, come back to my office so you'll get your dorm number, keys, and schedule."

Laura nodded. Laura and Mary waited for Ms. Mayhem to call a student out of class to give them a tour. They stood there for a couple of minutes when finally a student came. He was slightly taller than Laura and had the same colored hair, bleached blonde.

He went up to Ms. Mayhem as she instructed him on what to do.

He walked to the girls and introduced himself, "Hi there, I'm Leon! I will be your tour guide." He gave a friendly smile. "Feel free to ask me anything about the school and I'll most likely know the answer." Laura grew a teeny tiny smile, she thought he was cute. "Well then, follow me!" He exclaimed.

All three of the teens walked around the school as Leon told them about literally everything in the cutest way possible. The bell rang as other students and themselves made it to the cafeteria.

"Okay, so this is the last area, the cafeteria! It's super big compared to other school cafeterias." He said while looking around at the students, He jumped when he saw one, "Look over there," He pointed, jumping up and down, at a girl who had her bangs dyed or bleached blonde and the rest of her hair black.

"That is Eileen, she's super duper cool! She has won every go-kart race for the past year and won so many awards besides racing awards, it's pretty awesome ." Laura looked interested and Mary had stars in her eyes. "SHE'S SO CUTE!!" Mary yelled, drawing attention towards them. Leon looked at her and agreed.

"The girl next to her is Marceline, she is like a ninja, Hyaaaaa!" he yelped whilst making a ninja pose, to which Laura giggled at.

"Sorry, that was probably cringy," Leon apologized, scratching his neck. "I thought it was funny," Laura replied. "Oh, thank you!" He gratefully answered and smiled.

"Anyways back to what I was saying, she is best friends with Eileen, and even though it just looks like Eileen follows her around, she doesn't I swear they're friends." Leon convinced them. "She looks very quiet," Laura observed.

"Oh yeah, she is! The only time she talks is when she's talking to her friends or answering questions in class." He said slowing the way he was talking after blinking and seeing Marceline disappear. "Where did she go?"

"Why were you staring at me?" Marceline asked from behind the three. Leon jumped in fright.

"I- I was, was uh, uhm, showing the new students around the school..." He stuttered. Marceline looked Laura straight in the eyes and then walked away. "Okay, that was weird..." Laura said.

"She may be cool and all but she scares the living hell out of me sometimes." Leon sighed shaking his head, Laura laughed.

"Yea she's scary, I think she can teleport because I don't know how someone would be able to move that fast." Leon gave a little laugh at Laura's comment.

"Hey, I never got your name," He said, " Oh it's Laura." Leon's face lit up, "That is a cute name!" Laura smiled and thanked him. He asked Laura if she wanted to hang out sometime, to which she replied yes and they made their way back to Ms Mayhem.

"There you are! I've got your schedule ready and your dorm rooms, here you are." She said, handing Laura and Mary their schedules and dorm keys. Mary looked in shock when she saw that Laura had a separate room. Mary had to share a dorm with someone named 'Jasmine Northwest'. Laura felt even worse knowing she'd have to share a dorm with a random person. Laura had to share a dorm with someone named 'Grayson Marshall'. Mary could see the scared look and her sister's pale face, so she hugged her to comfort her.

Laura is scared of random people she doesn't know. Mary's the complete opposite. Mary loves everyone, and she's super friendly. It was quiet for a moment when Leon finally spoke up.

"I could show you the way to the dorms... if you want." Laura looked at him, then accepted his offer. Leon took the paper that had Laura's dorm number and schedule on it.

"Wait a second... your dorm is right next to mine!" Laura's face lit up a bit. "Now we won't have trouble trying to find each other when we want to hang out!" Well, at least Laura will have someone to talk to without being completely scared.

"OOH, YOU ALSO HAVE MY SECOND AND FIFTH PERIOD!" He yelled in excitement, jumping up and down. Laura looked happier than she was before. She then started jumping up and down with Leon as they both laughed. Mary just stood there watching the two be excited together. Laura was quite happy, she made a friend on her first day there!
