The Night.

To be honest it took me a while because I didn't want to understand the fact that he was my brother. We shared the same blood since the day I met him.

"What? That," I stuttered in a low voice, "isn't true."

"It is. I looked for you for years. When I finally found you at that festival my whole world..." He had a glint in his eyes that I've never seen.

"How did you know it was me?" I cut him off with all of my questions sprouting out of my mouth. "How do you..? I mean you were 14, and I was just 10. Are you sure? What if I'm the wrong person? Did you know from the beginning?"

"Well I did my research first. Why did you dye your hair red?" He asked out of nowhere.

"My mom told me it would look good on me."

I was young when she started dying my hair. I couldn't understand why she hated my blonde hair.

"She knew I would look for you, Sky. Don't you feel it?" He grasped my hands so tight it prevented me from panicking.

I knew we had a connection since the day I met him. My sister said he was just a clumsy 14 year old bothering a little girl. However, he really wanted me. I thought he had liked me, but after 5 years of being friends in secret I understood there was something more than a crush. Though, I didn't know what.

"That's why we had to sneak out to talk. Your mother knew..."

"What about our parents? Who were they? Why would they leave me?"

My head was spinning in despair and distrust. Though I never questioned WHY, that day for the first time, I did. If what he had told me was true, how would he know? They didn't leave him? Those possibilities troubled my heart.

As my hands were sweating into his, he just stared and then withdrew them. He ran his fingers through his face, just as he always did when he was nervous. I never realized I did the same when I am overwhelmed until that moment.

"It's a family thing," He explained and then took a folder. "Here, they never wanted to leave us."

"They left you too?" I asked with hopelessness in my eyes. I took the files and ran my fingertips through them.

"When you were born I was four and I wasn't with them, so they had to leave you in a safe place."

"At a hospital? Why?"

"Because they were running away and they didn't want you to have that kind of life." As he talked, I read.

Laura and Jason were serial killers.

"They left me when I was ten at a foster house. I escaped and started looking for you."

"You waited six years to tell me this?"

"You weren't ready to know your parents were killers. They actually killed a lot of people, Skylar. I had to live with the burden, and I didn't want you to."

"You weren't going to tell me, were you?"

"No, I wasn't." He sighed, "I've done things and I just was supposed to make sure you had a good life. But I stayed... I shouldn't have. There's just something about you..."

"What is it about me? What have you done? What happened to them?"

"They disappeared. I don't even know if they are dead."

"You are lying and I don't want to know what happened to them. They weren't good people." I gave him the papers back and left.

Liam knew that I had something haunting my mind. And now I knew what it was. It was in my blood and it would never go away, neither was Liam.

I paced back and forth in my room that night. 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m. and I just couldn't escape the haze my mind was trapped in. My life changed when I met Liam.

He was a skinny boy with rosy cheeks and a look that could make you quiver from head to toes. I was a ten-year old girl who sighed for charming princes. That day my curly hair was in a braid, I wore a beautiful blue dress. There were people everywhere, but the only thing I saw when I arrived was Liam. He looked like a prince charming kinda boy. I told Marianne, my older sister, that I should be his princess and she just chuckled. But then he approached me and everything changed. For some odd reason he told me we shouldn't be seen together. So, as the foolish girl I was, I agreed and since that day on we snuck out to parks and sometimes we met late at night at my backyard. And it was good; it was so easy to talk to him, not like with other boys, with them I felt like I was sinking myself with every word I said. Who would've said I'd fall in love with my brother?

"Hey," I heard a whisper near my ear.

"How did you get in?" I turned and saw Liam's face in the darkness. He was so close I could've kissed him right there. Forget about our blood and stuff.

"You know how..." He said in a playful tone."I am sorry about everything today. Maybe I shouldn't have..."

"You did the right thing." I sat in my soft bed and beckoned him to sit right next to me.

"You know, sometimes I wonder, what the hell were they thinking?" He sat and placed his hand on mine.

"Do you remember them?"

"Of course, but let's not talk about it now, Sky."

"So? What should we talk about?"

"You..." Even in the dark I could see his bright eyes, those eyes that eased me even on my worst moments. "You once told me you felt things... but you never explained what or towards whom."

"I have these dreams, where all I do is get back at everyone who has harmed me in any way. The dreams are so wicked. But I am not afraid of them, I-I don't know." I was finally feeling completely safe and sound with him because now I knew what was going on. "Were my parents sick? Could I be sick too?"

"I-I don't know, Sky."

"Have you... ever... killed anyone? Or even thought about doing it?"

"No," He slightly lied through his teeth. "Well, if I told you I have killed someone, would you get mad at me?"

"I-I don't know... I guess I'd understand, but..." I cut myself off, because I wasn't sure of what should I say, what would've been right or wrong.

"But?" He asked expectant.

"But it would be hard to..."

"Trust me?" He got closer to me. "Don't ever leave me... I've tried to leave you, but you make it harder and harder every time. Something keeps me holding onto you."

"My blood runs through your veins, Liam." I took his hand and intertwined it with mine. They fitted perfectly.
