When I woke up, I felt awful. The immediate throbbing inside my skull made it hard to open my eyes. It felt like my head had been stepped all over a million times.
"Wake up, sleepy head." I felt Avery grab onto the comforter and started pulling it off my body.
I groaned and rolled over, tugging the comforter back over my body.
"You'll be late and then you'll be in even bigger trouble, Tamsin. You gotta get up, girl."
"What the hell happened? My head hurts," I grumbled in pain.
"Welcome to the hangover club. I'd like to give you a crash course, but unfortunately we don't have time. We are going to be late, missy."
I threw the comforter off my head to look at Avery. She was already dressed and ready. Her platinum pixie hair in soft curls down to her chin. She looked like a snow princess.
"Oh shit, you look like a total mess," she said, not knowing if she should laugh or pity me.
"I know. I feel like it too. Please help me," I begged.
Avery sighed. "Alright, let me see what I can do."
She grabbed both of my arms and pulled me out of bed. My headache wasn't going away anytime soon. It was almost painful to open my eyes.
"First, I need some pain relievers." When Avery released me, I swayed slightly on my feet.
A look of sympathy crossed my friend's face before she nodded her head. Lifting one finger, she announced, "I'll be right back."
When she disappeared out of her bedroom door, I walked to her connected bathroom. Inside, I quickly used the bathroom, flushed the toilet, and washed my hands. I leaned over and splashed cold water over my face. I hoped the cold water would feel refreshing and invigorating in comparison to how weak my body feels, but it did nothing. I sighed and propped my elbows on the sink counter and closed my eyes.
A few minutes later, I hear Avery come into the room. She handed me some pills and a bottle of water. I took the medicine quickly. Surprisingly, I finished the entire water bottle. I tossed in the waste bin before turning to look in the long bathroom mirror.
My eyes widened when I saw how ugly I looked. My eyes were sunken. The black eyeliner smudged all over the place. I looked like a panda. My hair was flying in all kinds of places.
"What the hell?"
"Do you remember anything from last night?" Avery questioned as she walked up to me.
"I'm going to need a shower." Immediately, she covered her mouth.
"And you are going to need to brush your teeth. I'm sorry, Tamsin, but your breath stinks."
I laughed, and she laughed along with me. Except laughing made my head hurt, so I groaned while covering my face.
"Ok, hurry. You need to take a shower. We have to leave soon."
I nodded my head and waited for her to leave before stripping out of my clothes and jumping into the shower. I felt like shit. My entire body was aching. I recalled Avery's question.
What really happened last night?
I tried to dig deeper, but nothing was really clear. No picture was coming up in my mind and I really didn't want to waste any more brain cells trying to conjure up images. The only thing I could recall was seeing Dean there and dancing with him...a flash of lips appeared in mind.
And I gasped out loud in the shower while washing my hair. Opening my eyes, the shampoo got into my eye. I winced and groaned out loud.
Kai kissed me.
