Goosebumps pricked my skin and my muscles burned as I pulled on the icy, metal material that cuffed my wrists. I groaned and pulled at my restraints once more. No good. I couldn't move, and I was completely enclosed by the darkness of my own eyelids. The heaviness of my eyelids lifted momentarily after fighting the dark for what felt like hours. I caught a glimpse of where I was. It was a bedroom with wood paneled walls and a dresser revealing my horrid state. My hair was stuck in a curly mess off the side of my head and my makeup was smudge all about my face, with my dress ripped around the shoulders and tearing at the seams at my stomach. Then suddenly the darkness took me once more.
I don't know how long it was that I sat in my very conscious slumber, maybe minutes or hours. The scent of artificial strawberries wafted over me and I could feel my nose twitch. There was a jingling noise and the tugging of my chains followed by heavy breathing when my eyes popped open. I sat up with a start, feeling relived to once again be able to see. The artificial strawberries belonged to a women. She was tall, standing over me, with piercing green eyes and long golden brown hair. The women was pregnant, breaching her second trimester by the looks of it.
"Who are you?" She asked, arms crossed.
"I'm Tempest, and you are?"
Her voice was gruff and I detected an accent. "Hayley. What exactly are you doing in my house?"
I frowned, sighing slightly. "I don't know."
"Ahh, Little Wolf it seems you've met Little Witch." I looked up. Klaus. "Go downstairs, we'll be with you in a moment."
Hayley glared at him. Her anger and frustration with Klaus very evident on her face. She huffed and stormed out of the room. Klaus sat beside me, gently moving my hair from my face. My lips settled into a frown, while his pressed into a thin line. He seemed quite irritated with me which angered me more, after all it was him who kidnapped me. I crossed my arms, waiting for his speech. Klaus said nothing.
"What?" I finally asked. Once more, he said nothing. I narrowed my eyes. "Look, if you're not going to talk. I'm going to leave." And still he said nothing. Klaus's expression had changed, as if he was contemplating something. I sighed and with a roll of my eyes, heaved myself from the bed. I had little time and no patience to deal with the original hybrid's instantiates.
"That girl is a werewolf and is carrying my child." Klaus's voice was chilling and haunting, desperate for help. He turned to face me. "Something happened when I turned into a hybrid. I regained a human aspect I lost long ago."
My mouth had dropped. I contemplated the rationality of it for a moment. There was no reason not to believe him, why would he lie? He had nothing to gain. I had always had a soft spot for children, coming from a family whom were not so nice. And then realization dawned on my thoughts. If Klaus was telling the truth then the mother and child were both in grave danger. Werewolves were not allowed in the quarter...and if someone were to find out, they'd both be killed and Sophie knew. The witches knew.
"Why is she in New Orleans?" I asked suddenly angry. "This town is notorious for killing witches and werewolves. The child and mother will both be killed if they're discovered."
He grabbed my face between his hands, flexing his fingers through my hair. "That's why I am taking my city back, the home I worked hard to build centuries ago. I want to raise my child here, in the only place I felt true happiness. Help me. You'll have whatever you desire, the freedom to go where you please, money, anything."
I blinked in surprise, removing his hands from my face. "Klaus, I will help you and not for you, but for the child. I do, however have conditions. I will not hurt my sister even if it would save your child, and if anyone of your family members try, I will kill them."
