Season 1 Episode 6 - My Best Friend

PREVIOUSLY:
Sarah visited her Father in prison after eleven years.
Sean wasn't impressed.
Billy advised Sean.
Eric told Sarah he tried to make contact ever since he was incarcerated.

It's late at night as Sean walks downstairs and he walks into the dark kitchen and switches the light on and he jumps slightly when he sees Sarah sitting at the kitchen table. "Sare what you doing sitting in the dark?" Sarah looks up to Sean with tear stained cheeks and Sean rushes to the table and sits down beside her as he asks with concern "Why are you crying? Look I just wanna say I'm sorry for earlier, I should've been supporting you but instead of being there for you I was a class A prick" Sarah nods and says "Yeah, you were" Sean says "I'm so sorry Sare, it won't happen again" Sarah looks to Sean and says "I went to the prison and I saw him" Sean asks "I should've been there with you. How'd it go?" Sarah replies "He looks older, he told me something. I've gotta ask you something and I need you to tell me the truth okay?" Sean nods "Sure, absolutely Babe". Sarah and Sean look to each other and Sarah says "My Dad claims that ever since he's been sent down, he wrote to me and he used to call but as you know Finn and Marian didn't give me any letters and told me that he didn't want anything to do with me. I've been sitting here for hours, Tryna make sense of it all. I mean Is my Dad right? Did you know?" Sean says "Babe I wouldn't hide anything from you, you ain't just my Wife, you're my Best Friend. I would never keep anything from you, you gotta believe me. Look I dunno what Eric's talking about, this is the first I've heard of these letters and phone calls but in the morning, we'll ask my Mum and we'll get answers okay?" Sarah nods and Sean reaches over and grasps hold of Sarah's hand and grips tightly.

The next morning Sean is pouring himself a cup of coffee in the kitchen as Jacob is sitting at the kitchen table eating his toast when Sarah walks into the kitchen. "Morning Mummy" Sarah grins to Jacob "Morning Baby Boy". Sarah looks to Sean and walks towards him and says "I'm sorry" Sean looks to Sarah as he asks "What for?" Sarah says "For last night, I should never have doubted you. I know you wouldn't ever keep anything from me, it's just after the visit...my head was frazzled" Sean takes Sarah's hand in his and says "It's okay Gorgeous, but we're gonna get the truth".

Marian walks into the kitchen to see Sean and Sarah sitting at the kitchen table talking. Sean and Sarah stops talking once they acknowledge Marian as Marian sweetly smiles to them as she walks towards the fridge and says "Morning kids". Sean and Sarah look to each other and Sarah says "I went to see my Dad yesterday" Marian's face falls "Is that right?" Sarah nods and she says "Yeah it was strange because he reckons that he's been sending me letters ever since he got the jail, is that right?" Marian turns around and faces her Son and Daughter In Law and says "Of course not" Sean says "Mum be honest, I can tell you're lying" Marion rubs her forehead and says "It was Finn's idea" Sarah and Sean both look to each other in shock as Sarah abruptly stands up and exclaims "Are you shitting me?" Marian says "It was the best thing to do! Finn came up with the idea" Sarah scoffs in disbelief and retorts "Yeah, blame the dead guy". Sean stands up and he stands beside Sarah "Calm down Sare". Sarah looks to Sean and asks frustratingly "How can I calm down? My Father has been sending letters for eleven years and they both lied to me, everyday!" Marian says "It was for the best, he was no kind of Father to you!" Sarah angrily says "You and Finn told me that my Dad wanted nothing to do with me!" Sarah sighs and she says "I need some air" Sarah walks towards the kitchen door and Sean says "Let me come with ya" Sarah turns back to Sean and says "No Baby, I need time alone" Sean replies "You shouldn't be alone" Sarah walks towards him and kisses his cheek and says "I'll be fine" and Sarah glares to Marian and she turns back around and storms out and Sean angrily looks to his Mother who looks down to the floor.

Marian sadly looks to Sean as Sean shakes his head to his Mother and he asks "How could you do this to her? This is gonna fuck her up" Marian says "We were protecting her, you remember how he was. He wasn't the best Dad to her. We done it for her" Sean sighs "Yeah Mum but Sarah doesn't see it that way. The way she sees it, you and Dad robbed her of eleven years with Eric" Marian sighs and says "Eric isn't who you think he is, he's dangerous and he would've only hurt her" and Sean shakes his head and says "Defend yourself all you want Mum but you and Dad had no right" and Sean walks out of the kitchen and Marian calls after Sean but Sean ignores her and storms outside. "Sean!" and she deeply sighs.

Sarah is sitting on a park bench staring in a trance when her mobile phone vibrates in her hand as the vibration brings her out of her trance. Sarah looks down to her iPhone and reads the text message from Sean 'Let me know if you're okay Babe. Ly xxx' and Sarah sighs as a woman around her age sits down beside her and smiles to her "Hey Saz" Sarah looks to her and replies "Hiya Laura, so you're back then?" Laura grins "Yeah I am, home shit home" and Sarah chuckles. Laura looks to Sarah and asks as she she gently nudged her "You alright?" Sarah nods "Sure I'm fine, so tell me about your holiday" Laura shakes her head "Saz we've known each other since we were at nursery. What's going on?" Sarah looks to Laura and deeply sighs.

Sarah decides to visit Eric.
Sean feels torn between Marian and Sarah.
Sarah visits her Grandfather.
