Sarah's Diary Part 1
So you know how every time I write in here I'm complaining about how BORING my life is. I mean High school sucks, team sports suck, most of my friends are great people, but so boring. It feels like half my life is just scrolling other people's lives on Reddit or TikTok. But I think there may be something interesting going on. An actual mystery in my neighborhood.A new family moved in across the street. You know, in that big house that was like super bougie for the town? Like a pool in the back, 3 stories, a big deck, a 3 car garage, the works. But it didn't make any sense, there were only 3 people in the family. A mom and 2 sisters, one about 9 and the other... Well the other I couldn't say at first. Either a big 3 year old or an immature 5 or 6 year old. She was in a diaper and a frilly dress and had a pacifier in her mouth when I first saw her. But she was as tall as her big sister. It was weird. I watched them move in and they barely had anything with them. A few days later a big truck of all new furniture came in and furnished the house with all new stuff. Most of it was like Ikea furniture. But there also seemed to be a lot of baby stuff, like a big changing table, a big crib, a rocking horse, playpen. All of it bigger than usual. But perfect for the big little girl I saw move in. They must be super rich... But it seemed weird to buy so much stuff the little girl was bound to grow out of in just a year or so? Soon enough the vacant house was a classy home. I decided to go over and introduce myself, let the rich mom know I worked as a babysitter. Maybe it could earn me some extra cash.
With my parents being teachers and our house an inheritance, there's not a lot of spare cash around. So if I want to get something new or do something fun, I better work for it.
It was 4 days after they moved in that I went over to their house in the early evening. About 5pm or so.
The older sister was the one to answer the door. She enthusiastically greeted me with a "HI, you live across the street right? I'm Angie! Can we be friends?"
I was taken aback a little, but put on a smile. Told her I was Sarah and we can be friends, but I'm pretty boring. Then I asked if I could meet her mother and sister. She invited me in and shouted "MOM! BARBIE! OUR NEIGHBOR IS HERE!" The mother Cassandra came in and introduced herself. I had apparently been just in time for dinner and she offered me some of the pizza they ordered while we sat down and chatted.
It was... Strange how inviting they were to a total stranger. But I didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. The Mother and Daughter definitely looked like family. The Mom, Cassandra was tall and curvy, with beautiful features and intense green eyes and long auburn hair. Angie, the daughter looked like a 9 year old version of her mom. Tall, lanky but cute and enthusiastic, energetic enough to make me laugh a little. She had the same hair and eyes as her mother and seemed to try and emulate her mother's appearance including the eyeliner and lipstick. I don't think my mom let me wear makeup until I was 13... So what, 3 years ago now?
It was all a little odd, but different strokes for different folks, right? Then I was guided to the Dining Room and met Barbie... That's when things went from odd to sheer what the fuck.
Barbie was sitting in a highchair clothed only in a massive diaper. The first thing she said when I came in was. "Pweathe mommy I don't wike strangers!" She then covered her face with her little hands and groaned as a bubbling noise came from her that made me assume she shat herself. Soon enough I could smell that I'd guessed right.
She looked like a literal Barbie doll. She had lips painted bright red, blush on her cheeks, long eyelashes and curly blonde hair. Her nose and face looked like those kid models do after spending an hour putting on makeup. But... There was no makeup... I'm sure of it, she was getting towards bedtime and nothing on her face smeared from rubbing her face. Nor did it rub off after she had dinner wiped off her face. Her voice was cartonishly high and the lisp compounded the effect. It was a caricature of a real girl. Angie said quite loudly, "Shut-up Barbie. She's our new friend!" Her little frame was in a menacing posture and Barbie cowered in her high chair.
I decided to try calming things down. "Hey it's okay Angie, I'm a stranger to her. Hi Barbie. My name is Sarah. Nice to meet you." Barbie kept her eyes locked down and her posture slumped. "Hi Sawah, thowwy. I... I juth... Thcared." She said.
"It's alright kiddo. I'm your new neighbor and just wanted to come by and say hello. Hopefully I won't be scary to you for too long" I replied.
