Three years have passed since Forth asked Beam out, and he can honestly say that time has been the best of his life. People immediately saw how joyful he had become, and he was unable to control his smile. After their break, everyone returned to school, and Forth and Beam shared a lot over that month. They were intimately acquainted, sharing everything from life stories to whispered secrets. Forth and Beam have crossed paths more times than they can recall throughout the years.
On the weekends, Beam would visit Forth, and for a week at a time, Forth would stay in Beam's dorm at his university. In order to acquire some much-needed alone time, their friends did the exact opposite of what they did. About a month and a half into their relationship, they finally met. He had never felt more loved than when Beam's mother gave him a hug and treated him like a child. It was now Beam and Forth's anniversary, and Forth planned to pleasantly surprise everyone by popping the question. They were all graduating from college, moving in together, and Forth knew he would be with Beam for the rest of his life, so why not now?
When Forth examined himself, he decided that he was as prepared as he could be. He had never been more anxious in his entire life. He took another look at himself in the mirror before putting the ring box into his pocket. He was wearing tight dress slacks that highlighted his best features, a white button-up shirt with the sleeves pushed up to show off his toned arms, and black dress shoes. He was aware of how good he appeared. Beam would likely concur with him, he knew. He was startled out of his reverie by the doorbell ringing, and he hastened to the door and threw it open. The man who would hopefully ask for his hand in marriage was standing there. He appeared stunning as usual. He was dressed in the identical navy blue button-up and black dress pants as a year prior as he stood there. When Beam cleared his throat, Forth noticed his eyes scanning Beam from top to bottom.
"Are you going to let me inside?" Forth's horrified expression made Beam chuckle.
"Jesus babe, of course, I'm sorry." As he moved to the side to let Beam inside his apartment, Forth said. Once they move in together, technically, it will be their apartment. Since Forth moved out of the apartment he lived with Pha, it has been a month since he moved into this one.
"You look amazing." Beam gently bit Forth's lips as he leaned forward. Both of them gave a timid smile when Forth hummed against Beam's lips.
"So do you. Happy anniversary! Ready to go?" Beam nodded as Forth encircled his thin figure in his arms. Hand in hand, they made their way to Forth's car and hopped in to head to the restaurant. Forth noticed why Beam's eyes brightened up when they arrived. They went on their first date here. Dammit, forth might be romantic.
"Hold on a sec." Forth opened the door for Beam after taking off his seatbelt and exiting the vehicle.
Beam rolled his eyes but nonetheless gave Forth a kiss as a thank you. "Sap." They entered the eatery and descended the steps to their booth near the windows where they could see the city's sparkling lights.
"Still just as beautiful." As his eyes swept the city below them, Beam said. They talked while sitting down about how much the previous year had affected them both.
"Imagine if you and Pha weren't friends. Things would be so different." Beam whispered.
"Imagine if I we haven't shared a class together. Things would be really different." When Beam appeared to be hurt, Forth laughed.
"I'm joking, baby. If I had tried, I don't think I could have avoided you." Over the table, Forth reached out to grab Beam's hand. When they grinned at one other, Forth decided it was the ideal opportunity to pop the question. The waitress, however, believed that it would be appropriate for them to arrive after their meals. Inwardly sighing, Forth released Beam's hand.
