I stood back up again and stepped away from the river while closing the water bottle that I just refilled.

Let's see for how long it'll keep me hydrated.

I made my way back to my little camp, but I heard some twigs snap behind the bushes.

I pulled out my bow and arrow and sneaked over to the bushes, while aiming at them.

I kept getting closer until someone fell out of the bushes.

It was a kid and he had a gun that he just dropped.

I kicked the gun away from him while still aiming at him.

Y/N: Who are you?

???: I won't tell you anything!

Y/N: If you're gonna make me ask you again you'll regret it.

AJ: My name's AJ, don't kill me...please.

Y/N: What are you doing here, AJ?

AJ: I got lost, I wanted to patrol our school but walked too far away, now I can't find the way back.

I stopped aiming at him and put my bow back on my back, along with the arrow.

I gave him my hand to help him up, but he refused and stood up himself.

I went over to his gun and picked it up.

Y/N: You should learn to accept help when it's offered to you.

AJ: You're not my dad. Don't tell me what to do.

I nodded.

Y/N: Alright, I guess it's fine when I keep this.

I said while examining his gun.

AJ: That's my gun! You can't take it away from me!

Y/N: Quiet. You don't want to attract unneeded guests.

AJ: Oh yeah? I'm gonna yell as loud as I can if you don't give me my gun back!

Y/N: Do that and the only thing you're gonna get from your gun is a bullet.

This made him silent.

I turned around and wanted to go, but he spoke up again.

AJ: Where are you going?

Y/N: Home.

AJ: Do you have a settlement?

Y/N: Nah, just a camp.

AJ: Is it big?

Y/N: It's not.

AJ: Will I fit there?

Y/N: Probably.

AJ: Can I come with you?

I really don't need a kid running after me right now, so I got ready to tell him no.

AJ: Please.

I thought for a moment.

AJ: I don't wanna be alone out here. I don't know where to go.

I turned around and faced him.

Y/N: I'm gonna bring you back home. No yelling, understood?

This made him smile.

AJ: Thank you!

Y/N: No yelling.

He covered his mouth.

AJ: Oops sorry.

Y/N: C'mon, let's go.

I set off and he followed me, bombarding me with questions.
