𝐈𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 | Ghost fanfic

Prologue

"Leo! It's time to come inside and eat." Kat shouts from the kitchen window. A welcome breeze  blowing in from it and clouds rolling in showing signs of rain for the next few hours. It had been raining a lot the last few months, it was the middle of May. Keeping the window open as she goes back to the stove, a laptop next to it with notes from a meeting that morning from work. She'd gotten the all clear to start working from home to watch Leo.

"Coming mom!" A little boy comes running inside from the front yard. Tripping on a box inside the door fresh from the move into the new house. Kat's apartment was too small and cramped for her and Leo, so she bought a house in the suburbs of the city next to a park for Leo to play at and hopefully make friends since he was homeschooled after an incident the year prior, loosing her trust in the school system. He grabs onto the table next to the door and steadies himself before letting go of it, dashing from the kitchen and giving Kat a hug.

Kat laughs slightly while brushing dirt from his dark brown hair, smiling while looking into his brown, almost black eyes, telling him to sit at the table in the dining room. Handing him a plate of food, she watches him walk to the table with his plate. Kat's eyes trail to the floor thinking back on the years prior before going back to getting a plate for herself. Unable to get her mind off the past

"You look more like your father everyday.." She mumbles under her breath so the little boy can't hear her start to cry, a tear falling down her face. It's been 10 years since he left, Kat doesn't know if he's alive or dead. She just knows that she'll always have a piece of him, whether he knows it or not. She looks to the small box on the counter "Memories" written in sharpie on the one side, opening it to find a laminated note on top. "I'm sorry, forget about me." written on it in pen, she lets out a small sigh.

"I could never forget you.." running her hand over it. She wipes her face of tears, remembering her love, her Ghost.

It's my first work on here and I'm excited to expand on it more. For this chapter, I wanted to keep it short. It's the start of the story and will reappear at the start of next chapter which by the time you read this I will be typing. I want to aim for longer chapters, so daily release may not happen, but I will try my best. I'll be fully fleshing out this story and if you have any recommendations for me to add to the story LMK!
