Shuri remembers that day. When her father was instantly killed from the explosion as he was presenting a speech at the United Nations conference in Vienna, Austria. Watching the horrifying incident on the tv screen, with her mother by her side, with Okoye and the Dora Milaje, and all of the elders of the council. Seeing every single news channel replaying the explosion again, and again, and again. As if they were showing a practical joke to Wakanda's face.

Her mother dropping to the floor, hysterical whales of sobbing coming out of her mouth as she saw her husbands death on worldwide tv.

Shuri also dropped to the floor, wrapping her mother into her arms, crying alongside with her. As she watched her wise lovable father perish.

When T'Challa came back home after the events of Captian America's and Tony Starks battle; to which he participated in that fight, but stopped when realizing that vengeance was consuming him and he didn't want it to deeply affect him till it got to the point of no return, she saw how he drastically changed as a human being. It was one thing to watch your beloved one die on the worldwide networks, but to witness it in front of your naked eye. Seeing it up close and in person. That is unfathomable. And her brother was the one who saw all of that.

The day of her fathers funeral, when her, her mother and her brother were walking down pathway of the capital city, as people where playing music, singing and dancing, she noticed how T'Challa was constantly looking down at his right hand. Seeing him wearing their fathers ring.

When her father was finally buried into the earths soil, her brother stayed behind, as the rest were leaving after saying their goodbyes to their king. She also stayed behind, not wanting to leave her brother alone.

Both of them stood in silence, as they looked down at the dirt where there father has been buried.

T'Challa: I was there...

Shuri: ....

T'Challa: He was giving his speech, I was looking elsewhere till I noticed the questionable actions of some people from outside of the building as I was looking out of the window, and before I was able to get a chance to save him, the building exploded...

He looks down at the ring.

T'Challa: Why...why did it have to be in that specific room....that we were in...

He weeps, as a trail of tears fall down on his face. Shuri embraces her brother in a comforting hug. Her eyes also starting to form tears.

Shuri: Ilungile ubhuti...

She chokes.

Shuri strokes his back in comfort, as her brother continues to weep on her shoulder. The tears that she was desperately trying to hold back for him finally made her give in. Both of them standing by the grave, deeply crying over the loss of their precious baba. No more of him cooking their favorite foods, no more of his dad jokes, no more of his pick up lines with their mother that made both of them cringe, no more of him giving them advice on how they should navigate life. All of that is gone. Their father officially being with the ancestors.

As the months went by, as T'Challa took the responsibility inheriting the title of being both the king and black panther of Wakanda, life in their country was blissful. There were a few moments of disturbances within their borders and out, but her brother swiftly resolved those issues. Especially the troubling madness that happened with their cousin. To which in the end, T'Challa conquered. And life in Wakanda was becoming peaceful once more after that.
