First installment, decided to do a short one to start off :) first time posting on so im getting use to settings and such

It was pouring. partially humid outside. She was stuck inside her apartment, the sound of rain thumping against the windowpanes. Mindlessly scrolling through the Netflix catalog, April was more than a little bored. She was lounging on her sofa, fairly new since she revamped her small living, mostly as a distraction since moving out of her ex's place. She could call her friends but let's be real, who is awake at 2 AM? 2 AM huh, she's been awake for a while. She wasn't tired, at least she didn't think so. Maybe that was enough romcoms and musicals for today and got up to retire to her chambers. The soft hum of the rain and wind accompanied her to her bed, a queen with soft and cozy blankets draped across in a mass of silks and faux furs. With a bed like this April has always found it easy to sleep, but tonight was different, the extra dose of loneliness maybe (and the slight headache from her confrontation with Ramee, her ex, from earlier). About to toss her phone on the nightstand it gave a light buzz. A notification flashed on her screen; the name almost made her heart stop. "Call me." It read. Without missing a beat April quickly tapped the notification and dialed the number. Patiently counting the rings while she waited with baited breaths, anxious for the call to pick up.

"Hello?"

Her breath halted at the sound of his voice, a voice she hasn't heard in forever.

"U...Uchi..." There was a brief silence, the hums of nature could only be heard. "Uchi where have you been?" She was answered by a soft yet audible sigh. "April listen...I thought you would be mad at me for not calling or checking in...I partied to hard and lost count of the days I've been neglecting to communicate with the gang." A tinge of sadness and disappointment could be heard in his voice. April hated it.

"I could never be mad at you...I was just frustrated and confused yeah, thought you moved on...f-from the gang" She grew silent at the end. It wasn't like she was dating the other nor was she in love (that's what she told herself that is) but hearing his voice...it hurt.

"I just couldn't...It's not you or the boys or anything like that though, I just needed to take care of things back home...and settle things with myself." That last part April didn't understand, to think Uchiha Jones of all people has his own share of demons to deal with. "That doesn't excuse me for ghosting you though...you didn't know." He continued. While yes April wasn't fond of being ghosted, she was glad to know he was okay.

"You're calling me now...does that mean your returning?" His lack of response was more than enough to answer her.

"I don't plan to come back anytime soon, it's just...I wanted to hear from you and get a lil taste of Los Santos while I'm up here in Japan."

"That so...Well I hope you're doing okay up there."

"I am...not too many loud redheads up here that's for sure." That earned a soft giggle out of her. Maybe its because of her falling out with Ramee but a sudden wave of emotions flooded her chest. What if it was Uchi? What if she returned his feelings? What if she decided to be with him...would he have taken her with him?

"Hey April..." She was pulled out of her thoughts, his voice had a subtle edge to it. "You still clinging to that spitting bastard?" She knew who he was talking about, but how can she explain to him that they not only dated but also broke up in the span of his departure?

"He buys me things...nothing more nothing less, besides I think he has a girl he plans on marrying." A contented hum could be heard. It wasn't a complete lie, but she still felt the need to omit some truth.

"Well its nice to know your being taken care of...but that's to be expected for the Dragon's daughter."

"Yeah, I kinda got it like that whateva..."

"Wouldn't expect anything else, any successful crime endeavors I should know about now that your hot shit and all?" His voice relaxed back into its natural state, endearingly obnoxious.

Whatever cloud has been perpetrating her clarity seemed to disperse over the time she spends talking to Uchiha. Talking about whatever nonsense would come to mind and subtly trying to pry into his (love) life, she glances over to her clock to see it read 5:46 AM. Almost instinctively she let out a yawn.

"It must be late for you...or super early I'm not sure what time it is there." Sounds of movement could be heard over the phone, he was probably getting settled in bed himself. "Hey...It was good hearing from you, don't tell anyone else though...or do brag your heart out." She could almost hear his obnoxious grin through the phone.

"You too Uchi...I miss you...a lot." She more than missed him, she needed him. That annoying voice, his uncalled for comments and his almost perfect (in her eyes at least) sense of humor. April let out a soft huff as she felt her body betray her with a wave of drowsiness.

"I miss you too April-Chan..."

"Told you not to call me that." But April would let him call her whatever if it meant coming back...and becoming hers as intended. In the back of her mind, however, she knew that Uchi would probably take his time coming back if his past calls while partying at countless bars meant anything. April knew better, she knew even if she had the opportunity to be with him, she would ruin it. Like she did with the relationship she had not even a week ago. She could hear him say something, but she was already drifting into sleep. If she's lucky she could pretend this was all a dream and push those fruitless thoughts to the corner of her heart. The sound of soft raindrops could only be faintly heard as she fell asleep.

"...Love you too."
