click, clack, click, clack.
Enid covered her ears, trying her best to block the infuriating sound out. She didn't want to be rude to wednesday, especially after all that had occured recently.
I mean, her kinda boyfriend turned out to be an outcast slash murderous psychopathic serial killer slash a hyde.
I've tried not to give her a hard time since we came back from break, but goddamn.
I did not miss that typewriter.
"Wednesday?"
The typing stopped.
She didn't say anything. It was just silence for a minute.
"Wednesday? No offense or anything but i thought you had one hour a day for the.. uh, novel."
"Yes," said Wednesday.
"It's been two and a half," I half-whispered.
Wednesday was silent for a bit. She then turned around in her chair, stood and locked eyes with me.
"You're correct," She said, in her usual monotone voice. "I apologize."
I know wednesday's weird, but this is a little more than weird. But i was happy with her odd compliance.
I curled into a ball under my blanket, scrolling through my phone. I must've lost track of time or something, because next time i looked up, Wednesday was already setting out her stuff for the next morning.
She had showered already, her long, black hair picked up in one low ponytail. It was wavy from being in braids all day. Her pajamas were always similar every night, tonight's edition a black and white striped t-shirt, and black adam sandler type shorts. She'd taken off all her makeup, making her freckles all the more visible.
I put down my phone and watched her get ready for the night. Tonight was a particularly normal night. Some nights after she showered, she'd put on an outfit and go out grave digging or investigating something new. But tonight it looked like she was going to stay in ophelia hall all night.
That's how it's been lately, after the break.
She grabbed a book, sat on her bed, and started to read. Since we'd been back, i don't think she's ever gone to sleep before me. I mean, i could be at one of Yoko's parties, come back at 12 or 1, and find her reading or wrtiting her novel.
I decided tonight is a night i was going to stay up with her.
I sat up in my bed, pulling the covers off my body. Reaching for my desk, i grabbed a bunch of pastel colored nail polishes.
Time for a mani-pedi.
I started with blue, the next color yellow, then a pink. I repeated this pattern through all ten fingers and all ten toes. It took a while to dry and everything and when i was done, it was already 12:45.
I was starting to get tired, yawning every couple minutes. I think Wednesday might have noticed, the way she kept glancing over in my direction.
