Your eyes dart open as you take in your unfamiliar surroundings.
"Where am I" you questioned to yourself, rubbing your temples in a counterclockwise motion as you tried to recall how you ended in this predicament to no avail. You couldn't remember anything. Not a single memory could be mustered no matter how hard you tried. All you recalled was your name and age. Your name was Y/N L/N and you were 23 years old.

An icy cold gust snapped you out of your thoughts. As you took in your surroundings, you noticed that the landscape was barren and coated in a thick layer of powdered snow. There were a few pine trees on the sloping hills and a line of smoke in the distance.
Wait...

Smoke!?!

Maybe there was someone there who could tell me where I am and they could point me to nearby civilisation.
It was a long shot but it was worth a try.

You start to stand up, brushing the snow off your pants and the sleeves of  your jacket. You felt a strange weight on your left hip. Looking down you see an intricately designed hilt of a sword nestled in an equally detailed sheath.

Pulling the sword out of the sheath, you proceed to swing it through the air to test your capability with it. The sensation felt familiar as if you have had this sword for so long that it felt like it was an extention of your limbs.

Ok ok enough distractions, time to  investigate the smoke in the distance.
You make your way over to the distant camp only to find it abandoned and desolate. Other thank the crackling fire, the place looked like it had been empty for some time. Pots and supplies were scattered around the place. You knelt over a kettle to find it was frozen cold.
Your hand immediately jerked back from the unpleasant icy sensation.
Standing up again, you nudge the kettle forward only to find a crimson splatter on the other side of it.

Blood!
Suddenly you became aware of a disgusting metallic stench coming from behind the tent. Cautiously you unsheated your sword and slowly approached the source of the smell.

*Rustle*
*Crunch*

As you rounded the corner you witnessed something truly terrifying and nauseating.
A skeletal wolf-like creature was tearing into the mutilated corpse of a man. Dull, tear stricken eyes gazed up at the sky, this poor man was alive until moments ago.
"Damn it! If only I had gotten here sooner this wouldn't have happened" you cursed to yourself internally

All of a sudden the monstrous creature's head jerked up to gaze at you. Before you could process what was happening the creature lunged itself at you. Speedily you dodged to the side of the creature and you attempted to impale the foul being in the back of its head. Your attempt failed as the monster as it retreated through a rift that it created.  The rift reappeared behind you with the hound lunging towards you through it. You took this chance to swing your blade across its eyes, blinding it. Then you proceeded to stab it through the center of its skull, ignoring the pained whimpers of the dying monster. As you pull your sword out of its skull, the hound disintegrates into a pile of dust that blows away in the cold wind.

After burying what remained of the hounds victim, you decided to check around camp for any supplies that could be of use. You were against snooping through a dead man's stuff but its not like you had any other choice.  In the end you found some crates full of dried food and protein bars, a warm fleecy coat and some more fuel for the fire.

Only now did you realise how famished and dehydrated you were, not to mention exhausted from all the events today so far and the confusion of your situation.
There was unfortunately no water in any of the crates so you had to think of a way to find water. Luckily the entire region you were in was covered in snow.

Hastily, you started gathering as much snow as you could and placed it in a pot to place over the campfire. You watched as the flames danced around the edge of the pot as the snow melted quickly into water.
