As Lyanna's foot lands on the docks of Dragonstone she felt a wave of relief wash over her. The weeks journey was one of the longest weeks of her life. She was on a large ship, surrounded by only men, none of which respected her. Not even the Lord Hand himself. He loathed her for coming with them, her being on this ship was like a stab to his masculinity, and he hated her for it.
But Lyanna loved it, and she wasn't completely alone. James had insisted on coming with her, and she was glad of that now. Lyanna tightened her grip on her sword as she led the other man up the many stone steps to get to the small castle, Otto surrounded by the protection of the King's Guards behind her.
As the group walked further up the stone path they could see Daemon standing ahead, holding the dragon egg. Next to him was who she assumed to be his soon to be wife, and behind them was a group of Gold Cloaks. The air was thick and foggy, they really picked the perfect day to do this.
Daemon takes the egg and tosses it between his hands. "Welcome to Dragonstone, Otto." Daemon says. "Your occupation of this island is at an end. You're to relinquish the dragon's egg, disown your army, banish your whore, and leave Dragonstone by order of his Grace, King Viserys-" Otto starts rather angrily before he is interrupted.
"Lyanna Stark!" He starts in High Valyrian. "Where is my dear brother, and why did he send a young girl in his place?" "Why in the Grace of the gods would the King come here, to handle your rebellious fase?" Lyanna replies and Otto looks angry. "Your nothing more than an angry child, upset that his brother took his favorite toy, so you took one of his." "I see you still have that fiery personality. King's Landing hasn't taken that from you. Yet." "That day may soon come, but it hasn't come yet. So in the meantime, just give back the egg. What did you think this would do? Make Viserys come out here and then you guys would hug and he'd tell you he loves you and reinstate you as heir to the Iron Throne?" Lyanna gabs at him. "Maybe, maybe not." Daemon says. "Well I hope not, cause that would make you even stupider than I thought you were." Lyanna said and Daemon scoffed. He looked over to Ser Criston.
"Ser Crispin, wasn't it?" Daemon asks teasingly and Lyanna lowers her head to conceive her smile; "Ser Criston Cole, my Prince." Criston replies. "Ah yes, apologies, I couldn't recall." Daemon says. "Perhaps my Prince recalls when I knocked him off his horse." Criston replies calmly and Lyanna almost laughs. Daemon chuckles. "Very good."
"This is a truly pathetic show, Daemon. Are you so desperate for the King's attention that you've resorted to skulking about like a common cutpurse?" Otto asks angrily. Daemon has really got his knickers in a twist. "I'm simply keeping up with the traditions of my house, the same as my brother did for his heir." Daemon says. "Those traditions are for the true born children of royalty. Not for bastards fathered on a common whore." Otto says, he is really working this 'whore' angle. "Lady Mysaria is to be my wife." Daemon points out. "Yes, we know, we received your invitation." Lyanna says.
"This is an abomination." Otto says, ignoring Daemon. "With every breath you soil your name, your house, and your brother's reign." "Our love does not know titles and traditions." Daemon says with a smirk. Otto is really not doing well. "And what of you, man of the City Watch? Aiding the Prince in his treason?" "The King made me their commander. They are loyal to me. You've come for the egg." Daemon hold out the egg. "Here it is." "Are you mad?" Otto questions. "You'd never survive this." "Well, happily, neither would you." Daemon says and shoots Lyanna an amused look.
"To choose violence, here, is to declare war against your King." Otto says. "Wonderful." Daemon says and steps forward. "Even if it ends in the death of your unborn child and it's mother?" Lyanna asks, concerned for the woman. She would be killed in the crossfire and she didn't seem like she deserved it. Daemon unsheathes his sword and so does everyone else. Tensions are high as Daemon points his sword at Otto.
All the sudden a roar rings out from the castle. It's high pitched. Everyone looks up to see Caraxes, Daemon's dragon, behind him. We won't survive this if Caraxes is here, and Otto knows this. "All of you, sheathe the fucking steel." He says and everyone but Lyanna does so. Lyanna just lowers it, putting the tip onto the stone below her and resting her hands on it.
Another call is heard from the distance and Lyanna looks out to see the clouds below them being disturbed, a creature moving below them. Syrax suddenly emerges from the clouds and flies above them. Lyanna smirks, she should have known Rhaenyra would come.
They circle for a moment and then land behind them on the bridge. Rhaenyra gets off Syrax and walks to the front of her men, all of them separating and nodding to her. "What are you doing here Princess?" Otto asks. "Preventing bloodshed." She answers looking to Lyanna with a smile.
"Ser Criston, please escort the Princess to safety." Otto says as if he commands her.
"Take care not to startle Syrax, my lords. She's rather protective of me." Rhaenyra says before stepping forward, toward Daemon. "My father named me Princess of Dragonstone. This is my castle you're living in, uncle." Rhaenyra says in High Valyrian. "Not until you come of age." "You have angered your king." "I don't see why. This is a day of celebration. I am to be wed." "You already have a wife." "Not one of my choosing."
Rhaenyra clicks her tongue. "And this requires you to steal my brother's egg?" "You shared your cradle with a dragon when you were born. I want the same for my child." "You're to have a child?" "One day." Daemon says as he looks back at Mysaria, who looks disappointed and walks back to the castle.
"I'm right here, Uncle, the object of your ire, the reason you were disinherited. If you wish to be restored as heir, you'll need to kill me. So, do it. And be done with all this bother." Rhaenyra says and the pair are silent for a moment. Lyanna temps her sword, prepared for Daemon to do as she asked.
Daemon instead, turns to walk away, but throws the dragon egg behind him, Rhaenyra catching it. Lyanna sheaths her sword and watches as Rhaenyra smiles and turns back, putting the dragon egg in it's holder. She motions for Lyanna to follow her as the pair go back to Syrax. Rhaenyra gives her a hand up as Lyanna gets onto the back seat on the saddle, wrapping her arms around Rhaenyra's waist.
As the pair take off into the sky Lyanna tightened her grip and Rhaenyra chuckles at her. The two ride in silence for a while, Lyanna smiling as she takes it all in. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Rhaenyra asks as they come up above the clouds. Lyanna was glad she wore her leather and furs, it was cold. "Very." Lyanna said. It reminded her of being up on The Wall, feeling like she could see the whole world. "It's like looking out from the top of The Wall, just a lot warmer." Lyanna says with a chuckle. Lyanna leans forward and leans her head onto Rhaenyra's shoulders and Rhaenyra sighs deeply and relaxed into her. They would stay like that for the rest of the flight, blissful, though both knew what would await the Princess when they returned. Even though she had successfully procured the egg, she had still snuck out of the castle and went to Dragonstone, risking her life and disobeying her father. They both knew there'd be hell to pay when they returned. But neither worried about that now. Now, it was just them, alone in the clouds."How I wish we could stay up here forever." Rhaenyra said as King's Landing came into view, the sun setting behind the city. Lyanna hummed and kissed her neck gently. Syrax let out a roar as she landed outside the dragon pit. Rhaenyra got off first and helped Lyanna climb off. Lyanna gazed at the beautiful creature as Rhaenyra patted her face. Seeing this, Rhaenyra grabbed Lyanna's hand and gently pulled it up to Syrax's face. Lyanna gently pet her face as Syrax grumbled a little, Lyanna thought it sounded a bit like a cat purring. She chuckled as Syrax leaned into her hand a bit.
"Princess, Lady Stark! King Viserys has requested your presence in his chambers." One of the King's Guards called out as he approached them, rather quickly. "And be warned, he is not happy." The two girls share a look before following him to the King's chambers. As the pair entered the chamber they saw Viserys sitting on a chair, holding a small stone dragon. "Your Grace." Rhaenyra said and they both bowed slightly, both looking at the ground.
"You disobeyed me. You fled King's Landing without a word and you acted without The Crown's leave." Viserys said to Rhaenyra, Lyanna questioned why her presence was needed. "You are my only heir. You could've been killed." Viserys then turned to Lyanna. "Did you know about this?" He asked. "No, Your Grace, I had no idea." Lyanna said, looking up at Viserys. He nodded. "Well thank you, for protecting my daughter. I heard tensions were high." Viserys said.
"They were, but thanks to the Princess, no blood was shed and the egg was retrieved. It's on its way back as we speak." Lyanna said. "Good." Viserys says and Lyanna nods her head. "I shall see you in the morrow Rhaenyra." Lyanna said to Rhaenyra before bowing and quickly exiting the room. As the door closes behind her she could hear the two talking inside and she felt hope for them, and for the mending of their relationship. Lyanna couldn't imagine what her life would be like without her father. She didn't want Rhaenyra to lose hers.
As Lyanna entered her room she was immediately pulled into a big hug. She recognized who it was immediately. "Rosha, it's lovely to see you too." Lyanna said with a chuckle and the older woman pulled away. "I was so worried dear. You were gone for over a week, then next thing I hear, Daemon's dragon almost killed everyone and then the Princess saved you all and then you rode off with her on a dragon! I was terrified for you!" Rosha says and pulls the girl in again before pulling back with a deep breath."By the gods! You smell like a man, like salt and dragons!" Rosha says with discust. "Let me ring you up a bath dear." Lyanna smiled and started removing her many layers. Once it was ready Lyanna climbed into the warm bath and lay there for a while, until she heard a knock on her door. "It's the Princess, dear." Rosha said to Lyanna, who simply smiled and nodded.
