I quietly groaned as my black hair refused to let go of the frizz blow drying it just gave. I was back at Simon's as I was meeting Talia here and she wanted a chat before everyone else arrived. It was truly welcomed as I think I needed an outsider to calm my nerves. Talia was the perfect girl for that.

Only issue was, she was running slightly late. Now, I was panicking about the night which was drawing very close, as well as fighting a losing battle with my hair. This felt like a bad omen for the evening to come.

"I'm here! I'm sorry I'm late but I'm hereeeee." Talia sang, bursting into the spare room and throwing herself onto the bed. She was fully dressed in a cute long sleeved crop top and skirt combo which looked both amazing and effortless. She really looked like a model whilst I currently looked like a resemblance of an electrocuted squirrel.

"Oh Ells, it's not giving." Talia cringed as she twirled a strand of my hair. I huffed out, handing her the hair straighteners and silently begging her to work her magic. She chuckled, accepting my pleas and got to work whilst I attempted to do light makeup to conceal the injuries which were slowly healing.

"How are you after last night?" She questioned, looking at me in the mirror. I nibbled the flesh of the inside of my cheek as I thought on my words for a minute.

"I'm not sure, to be quite honest with you. I just think this is a confusing time for me at the minute and adding Harry to that will just make it all a whole lot worse." She hummed with understanding, somehow managing to tame my hair a lot easier then I could.

"Maybe someone like him is what you need." She shrugged, resuming what could only be described as god's work on my hair. I moved onto my second eyebrow as she continued. "Well he's quite carefree, isn't he? Everyone always says how fun he is, how he just lives in the now. Sure, he can be awkward as fuck and says stupid things but I think he means well." What Talia said is very true, even I knew that. But apart of me that was hurt couldn't just accept that. He mistreated me before as just friends, without adding any other spice to the mix. Added to that, all of the Nate situation, a relationship didn't seem to be what I needed.

"I dunno T. I just think it's all messy." I placed my makeup stuff down, being happy with just slightly filled in brows, mascara and lip balm. "He is one of my brothers best friends. If we realise it's not right too late then it could jeopardise their whole friendship, the whole of the sidemen could be affected then by their relationship problems and then I would be responsible for the possible downfall of their whole empire thing they have going on." The negatives definitely outweighed the positives in my mind, so any feelings that could be sprouting for Harry needed to be compartmentalised in a dark corner of my brain, to be forgotten about forever.

Talia tried to keep a neutral face, but ended up spluttering out a giggle. I squinted my eyes at her in the mirror at her poor attempt to hide her amusement.

"What's so funny?" I grunted, just as she finished up with my hair. It definitely had been saved from the state it was in previously. She put down the straighteners and turned them off before putting her hands on my shoulders and looking into my eyes.

"You will never be this young again, Ellie. Stop living up here—" She tapped my forehead with her tanned finger, making me crinkle my nose. "And just start enjoying life. Live for what makes you happy today, not 5 years from now." She tapped my shoulders with love before straightening out. Just as she did, a knock sounded through the apartment. Talia grinned down at me. "Get dressed, I think it's showtime."
