"Are you sure you're going to be okay?" asked Michelle Sam's, mom's best friend. After her mother passed away Michelle had taken care of her until her family was ready for her to come to Japan.
"I'll be fine auntie. I promise." Sam replied with a small smile. It has been a tough couple of months. First her mom gets sick out of the blue and passes and then you learn you had an ant and uncle in Japan that you didn't know existed, along with two cousins.
"You promise that you'll text and call me when ever you have time and that you'll come back and visit?" Michelle asked with tears in her eyes.
"I promise. I gotta go catch my flight. So I'll see you later." Sam said giving Michelle a big hug.
"Alright I guess I should let you go. Goodbye Sam I hope to see you soon." Michelle said wiping her tears and waving goodbye to Sam as she grabbed her bag and started walking towards the terminal.
It's not that Michelle didn't worry about Sam because she did she just knew she could take care of herself."Sam wait." Yelled a deeper voice.
Sam smiled as she turned around to see both of her best friends since elementary school running towards her. As they got closer to her they collapsed onto the ground panting. Sam folded her arms with a smirk on her face.
"I honestly didn't think you guys were going to show." Sam said
"Do you really think we would let you leave that easily?" Testua said standing straight. He had black hair with a beauty mark on his lower cheek and dark black eyes.
"Yeah come on Sam your our best friend. You really think you could just leave us like that." Said Taiga looking at you with the biggest smile you had ever seen. Taiga had red hair that was darker at the tips with big red gentle eyes. Sam had, had a huge crush on the boy since she saw him the first day of third grade. He didn't speak English very well, so he never really had any friends until she talked to him one day.
Her mother worked for the military as a translator. So she had picked up more than a few things in Japanese. Plus she was half Japanese herself so it was almost natural for her to speak Japanese.
"I'm glad you guys are here." Sam said pulling the both of them in for a hug. "Maybe I'll see you guys in Japan."
"We sure hope so." Said Testua breaking from the bone crushing hug to look at her.
"We promise to at least come see you if it's cool with our parents." said Taiga
"Flight 180 to Japan will be leaving in 10 minutes. Flight 180 to the terminal please." Said an employee on the intercom.
"I better get going. You guys promise to text me sometimes?" Asked Sam picking her bags back up again and smiling at the boys.
"We promise Sam." They said at the same time.
Sam nodded and turned around leaving her friends, her home, all of it behind. She knew she'd see them again but it hurt walking away from the family that you had grew up with. Even if they weren't blood.
Getting in line at the terminal Sam started recalling memories of when she met Ti and Testu. She didn't want to leave but then again she was curious as to what her family in Japan was like and why she had never heard of them until a couple months ago.
Walking through the terminal she looked back towards the boys. They were looking at her with gentle expressions on their faces. She would see them again.
Sitting in her seat on the plane she plugged in her airpods and sat back in her seat listening to music.
