The next morning Tommy woke up to his alarm going off at 6am. Tommy groaned as he hit snooze on his alarm clock. His body felt stiff and sore from sleeping on his stomach, and the light filtering in from the windows made him even more uncomfortable. It's too early to get up, but it is a Saturday, so I guess I should be getting myself awake anyway. Tommy rolled out of bed and got ready for the day. He changed out of his pajama clothes into some sweats (which Tommy loved wearing because they keep him comfortable no matter how dirty they are) and pulled his hair into a messy bun. The boy walked downstairs, grabbing his keys and heading for the door. Once he got to the doorway, Tommyinnit grabs his bag and his keys and goes outside. He gets into his car and heads towards the mall, deciding to stop and get lunch first. Tommy walks over to the food court and sees what he looked good eating, once he'd decide what he wanted to eat, he went over to a small café with a menu board hanging in front of it. Tommy ordered a sandwich and a coffee, along with a small water bottle to drink. Tommy sat down in one of the empty booths and sipped on his coffee while he watched people walk around the food court area. He watched people walk by, laughing and talking and having fun, before deciding to pay attention to something else. Tommy's eyes scanned over the menu board, hoping to see anything good he can order. There weren't many items, but Tommy found a few options that he might be able to make himself at the moment.
When the waiter came back to take Tommy's orders and give him his meals, Tommy decided to get a salad because he didn't want any bread with it, but he also wanted some fruits to balance the meal out. After Tommy paid for the food and paid for his drinks, Tommy waited for his food to arrive. When it arrived, the blonde thanked the waiter before putting his sandwich on the table and digging into his breakfast like he usually does. While he eats, he looks around the mall a bit more; he notices a few kids running around chasing each other and laughing loudly. Most of the adults were in line at the register, waiting for their lunch. Some of the moms and dads were sitting at tables drinking coffee and chatting, and a group of kids was playing tag in a corner. A few other teenagers were walking around the mall, laughing and having fun with each other, but most people just seemed to be enjoying the quiet atmosphere and relaxing time together. Tommy was contented sitting there at the mall, enjoying his lunch while listening to the sound of kids' voices filled the air with chatter.
When Tommy was done with his lunch he took out his sketchpad and a pencil and started drawing. He began sketching what was going on with everyone around him, including some of the older teenage girls and their girlfriends who were trying to flirt with the guys around them while holding shopping bags in their arms. He was so engrossed in his drawing that he didn't realize how many kids were looking over at his drawing, admiring the way it was coming alive and capturing what was happening around them. When Tommy finally stopped drawing, he glanced at his sketchpad and looked at what he had created. It was just a bunch of little doodles of different types of birds and butterflies, which was pretty much what he usually drew, but Tommy noticed that the wings of the birds and butterflies were bigger than normal. He thought the wings would be more realistic, but after checking for any errors in the shading he figured out that they were actually quite realistic. "Mama look! He draws! Daddy's gonna love it!" Tommy heard someone behind him say excitedly.
Tommy spun around on the stool to meet with the eyes of the girl who had stars in her eyes. She was smiling brightly, showing off a row of perfect white teeth. Tommy grinned slightly in response and stood up from the stool. "I sure hope your daddy does," the teen said to the girl.
"I'm going to love what?" a deep voice suddenly spoke.
Both Tommy and the girl turned their attention toward the source of the voice. The girl's smile widened upon seeing her father standing at the other end of the cafeteria where the tables were located. Tommy and the girl quickly turned their attention back to the man who had spoken, noticing that he was looking very serious. "Daddy! come and look at what he drew!" the girl exclaimed happily. Tommy glanced briefly toward his sketchpad before looking back at the girl.
"What did he draw? Show me!" Mr. Morita asked his daughter, walking over to her side.
She nodded vigorously as she showed him the pictures that Tommy had just drawn of a bird, the butterfly, and the frogs. As soon as Mr. Morita looked at the pictures and saw what Tommy had put onto his paper, a huge grin formed onto his face. He looked back at his daughter, who seemed very proud of herself. She was grinning proudly while her dad praised her, and all of a sudden she wrapped her arms around Mr. Morita's waist and hugged him tightly. Mr. Morita chuckled as he hugged back his daughter, and Tommy couldn't help but feel a wave of pride wash over him. He knew he was amazing at drawing and he was glad that someone like him was complimented. The girl walks over to Tommy and gives him back his sketchpad. "You drew this?" Mr. Morita asks him.
"Yeah, I did. I really enjoyed doing so," the brunette answered shyly. "Sorry if my drawing was horrible or anything."
"No! No, don't apologize, it wasn't terrible. Actually, you're really great at drawing and your drawing skills are really impressive." Mr. Morita tells him kindly as he ruffles the curly haired boy's hair affectionately, making the kid squirm. "how much should I pay you for the drawing?"
Tommy's jaw drops open. "You think I can sell this?!"
Mr. Morita nods and smiles, "yeah of course! You have talent and that's not cheap."
"Really?!" the blonde says excitedly.
Mr. Morita nods again and then reaches over and ruffles the boy's curly locks gently, "really, Tommy. You've always liked drawing and you've always been talented and I know you'll be a great artist and will probably become one of the best in the world."
Tommy can't believe what he just heard. He was being offered money for something he bearly put effort in. "Seriously?" Tommy says still a bit surprised.
"Yeah, seriously." Mr. Morita grins. "Yes seriously."
Tommy looks down, embarrassed and bashful about all of the praise.
"I'll take $20 for the drawing and $50 for the other drawings," Mr. Morita informs Tommy.
Tommy's head snaps up and looks at Mr. Morita, "wait what?"
"That's what you agreed to right?" Mr. Morita asks. "If you agree to the price I'm offering, then I 'll buy everything that you draw."
The young artist looks shocked at Mr. Morita as he continues to look down at the ground. He starts picking at the skin between his thumb and index finger nervously. 'it's a good amount of money and I do need the money for my supplies..' Tommy thought as he thought over the deal before deciding to accept Mr. Morita's offer. "Sure." Tommy agrees with a soft sigh. Mr. Morita gives Tommy a big smile before handing him $20 and $50. Tommy takes the money from him and grabs his sketchbook and rips out all the drawings he's made and hands them to Mr. Morita . Then he looks back at the drawings. They're really not that bad, in fact, they're absolutely impressive and gorgeous . Tommy could tell that Mr. Morita really liked the drawings and he smiled widely at the thought of selling these beautiful drawings. He handed the sketches over to Mr. Morita, who took the pictures carefully.
"Thank you for accepting my offer, Tommy," Mr. Morita told the teenager. "thanks for the drawings boy, have a good day ."
"Thanks." Tommy responds with a nod before turning around and heading to the doors of the food court. As soon as he got outside, he started to run toward the parking lot in hopes of getting to his car sooner rather than later. Once he made it into his car, he quickly locked the doors and headed out of the parking lot with the window cracked open a bit to let some fresh air enter the car. The drive home passed by without Tommy really paying attention, only thinking about how happy he is about the idea that he gets to sell his artwork. When he got home, he immediately ran upstairs and screamed in excitement into his pillow . It felt good for him to feel this way after being so unhappy for the whole day, and once he had calmed down and his joy had subsided he started to go through everything he had received and realized that he was going to get a lot more money because of the sale of his sketches. He thought about it for a bit as he lay in bed and tried to figure out how he was going to use the money and how he was going to make sure no one else ever found out about those drawings and sold them. 'I gotta stop worrying about it now,' he thinks. 'I got nothing to worry about anymore.' After getting up and taking a shower, changing his clothes, and eating some toast, he decided to spend the rest of the afternoon painting some more. He sat down at his desk and started working on what he had planned to paint for the next few weeks . He wanted to make something special that he wouldn't share with anyone so that people could appreciate his artistic talent and not laugh when he told them what had happened. A couple hours later, his work was done. Tommy looked at the time and saw it was 2 am already . He decided to get ready for bed; he had school early in the morning and wanted to get as much sleep as possible. The young teen crawled into his bed and shut off all his lights except for his bedroom light and went to sleep, a smile on his face as he went to sleep.
