As I watched the clock tick during the last period of the school day, I thought about all the reasons why Indiana was better than California. The air was clearer, everyone knew each other, and the classrooms had windows. I couldn't believe I had to spend my Senior year of high school in this uneventful school. And of course, Dizzy wasn't here. Dizzy is my boyfriend, I love him so much. California would never be my home, because Dizzy was still in Indiana, and home was where he was.
"Mia, could you repeat what I just said?" Mrs. Alfaro asked in a matter of fact tone.
"You said me, te, se, nos, os, les." I said nonchalantly, reading off the whiteboard.
"Good job. Please pay attention," she responded annoyed. It was just too damn easy. As the bell rang, I swung my bag over my shoulder and left the classroom in no rush. I threw the rest of the books in my bag and headed to my car with a few new friends, Chelsey, Brooke, and Rob. We leaned against my car and chatted for a good twenty minutes, usually the time it takes before I get bored.
As they told me things I should know about kids in our class, I saw a tall guy with wavy blond hair in the distance. Man, he kinda looked like Dizzy. I missed him so much. Since I last saw him, I haven't had a single genuine feeling other than boredom. In order to not seem weird, I pulled my eyes away from the distant stranger and continued talking. A few minutes later, I glanced over again in the same direction. I had to do a double take. My whole body was immediately tingling as disbelief was overwhelmed with relief and excitement.
"Dizzy!" I yelled as ran away from my confused friends to my favorite person in the entire universe. His smile was as cute as ever, going from ear to ear.
"Hey!" he laughed as I jumped into his wide open arms. He lifted me over his shoulder and spun me around before letting me down and squeezing me to death. I was smiling so hard my face hurt, and he could not stop laughing.
"I love you and missed you so much!" I laughed with delight.
"I love you too! Let me look at you," he said happily. I took a step back bashfully so he could see my face.
"You are so beautiful," he said with such a proud, loving gaze. He grabbed my head and kissed me on the forehead.
"Thanks," I chuckled shyly," how long are you here for?"
"Till the end of the year," he said casually with a smirk.
