Forgotten Love: The Prologue
Giyuu woke up to a rather windy morning. Outside, he could see the cherry blossom trees in his koi garden moving surprisingly smoothly like waves in the ocean. It was windy but a certain feeling that something good was going to happen today didn't go away. Giyuu shrugged it off and sat up. He licked his dry lips as his cut hair flew with the breeze. Yawning, he stood up and got ready for the day.
Giyuu picked out a white yukata with thin, blue waves on it. Struggling with only one arm, he put on his outfit and decided to go to the butterfly mansion to greet his friend's little sister. He walked along the path where all of the remaining hashiras—including Tanjiro and his friends—decided to live. After the demon slayer corps disbanded, they all lived near the butterfly mansion. The path was surrounded by fields of wisteria and green trees. Giyuu saw the butterfly mansion ahead on him but it was as small as an ant. Suddenly, a big gust of wind blew at Giyuu, causing something to hit his face. The object was small and soft, he picked it off of him and it was a cherry blossom petal.
"Oh? Could this be my lucky day?" Giyuu mumbled to himself. He formed a very small smile and decided to keep walking. Giyuu replayed all of the events he had in his life that included the hashiras that died before and during the final fight with Muzan. He remembered the times when Kyojuro ate lunch with him, and when Shinobu would tell him about the gossip she collected. Ah, good old days, but those days are gone now.
"Tomioka-San!" A voice called out.
"Hmm, who was that?" He thought. In the distance, he saw a familiar figure. Black hair, bangs that end at the eyebrows, and a butterfly pin on the side.
"Kanao!" Giyuu answered back. Kanao ran to Giyuu. They hugged for a second and Giyuu started a conversation.
"So, how has it been, Kanao?" He asked with a smile.
"Oh, you know, Aoi and I watching Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho playing around. It's been a while since we had this much fun together." Kanao answered with the same smile. Like Giyuu, Kanao has been more open to her feelings and letting them show. Shinobu' s death had a great impact on the two of them; so they would get along and connect with each other a lot.
"Oh, Tomioka, I forgot to mention that I was actually going to come over to your place to give you this:" Reaching from behind, she pulled out a butterfly pin. "You and Nee-San got along with each other really well, so I just thought to give you this; her hairpin to decorate her grave with." Kanao then handed it to Giyuu."Thank you Kanao, I'll take this to her grave." Giyuu said as Kanao nodded. "Goodbye now." They both waved and walked away.

Giyuu arrived at the cemetery. The place was beautiful and peaceful; filled with the natural sounds of birds chirping and water moving. Giyuu looked around to try to find Shinobu's grave. Most of the Tombstones were made of either marble or limestone. He walked a bit faster but soon, he found a few graves surrounding two tall, well decorated graves at the corner of his eye. He returned back to the scene, where Shinobu's grave could be. Giyuu arrived there and standing in front of the older looking—but well taken care of—grave was a 2 centimeter taller white haired male that slightly surprised Giyuu. The white haired male turn his head and they locked eyes.
"Huh?" Giyuu hummed forming a smile while turning his head, "Shinazugawa? Are you visiting Kanae-San?"
Sanemi flushed and quickly turned to the graves. Giyuu looked down at Sanemi's hand and in there, Sanemi held Kanae's one of two hairpins. "Oh?" Giyuu walked over to Sanemi. "Were you delivering Kanae's hairpin? Kanao gave me Shinobu's to take too so I came here to put it by her grave.""O-Oh" Sanemi responded. "Yeah, same situation here."
"So, do you know who these other graves belong to?" Giyuu asked, tilting his head.
"Kanae took me here before and she explained that these were her and her sister's tsuguko that were killed." Sanemi answered with a slight empathetic look.
"Oh, I see"
After Giyuu spoke, there was dead silence for about 3 ½ minutes and Giyuu decided to speak again.
"Shinazugawa, after we give them their hairpins..." then he stopped."What Tomioka?" Sanemi asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Would you like to go eat at a restaurant with me?" Giyuu asked with his face all red from embarrassment.
In their silence, Giyuu thought it would be a good time to ask Sanemi to go out and eat with him at a restaurant with Salmon Daikon and Ohagi so they could be friends. Maybe he would invite Tanjiro and his friends.
"Umm..." Sanemi could go but there was a chance Tengen could be at the same restaurant. Tengen would hook the two of them up so Sanemi concluded that it was best for the two of them to keep their distance from him."Shinazugawa?" Sanemi heard Giyuu say.
"O-Oh, sure!" Sanemi said with an awkward smile. He rubbed the back of his head from being nervous.
"Alright!" Giyuu said with a warm smile.
