Chapter 23

"How long did you sleep?" Seulgi asks when she saw lisa in her office, resting her head on her desk as if she was exhausted. The bags under her eyes are nearly visible and if she doesn't apply more makeup, it is surely noticeable that she lacks sleep.

I didn't even know if I slept. Lisa thought to herself.

After their talk with jennie, lisa walks back to her own room with heavy breathing. She didn't sleep in the latter's bed, she possibly can't knowing what the girl just did. Lisa doesn't want to overboard boundaries, and she didn't think she can keep her hands to herself after jennie had just woken up the beast within her.

How long she did keep her hands to herself anyway? 6 to 7 months? When she laid her eyes on jennie, when lisa was winning her attention, she promises herself not to commit to any other woman except for this girl, which she surprisingly did. Lisa didn't have time to find someone either knowing she was busy at work and gaining jennie's trust.

"Come on, lisa. Don't just look at me. Talk." Seulgi persuade.

Just by looking at her best friend, she knew lisa was going onto something. She looks stressed and tired, and the fact that she's quiet too. Not the typical lisa she knows.

Seulgi wasn't aware of jennie since lisa promise not to tell anyone about it, not even her best friend who always know everything.

"Nothing, just lack of sleep. You know... work and stuff."

"You think you could fool me? I know you're hiding something, lisa. You've been distant from me since weeks ago. And you think I didn't know about how you secretly visit jennie's office every now and then? Tell me, is there something going on between you two?" Seulgi truthfully revealed and lisa could only curse under her breath. She didn't want to hide this from her bestfriend but she can't also break her promise to jennie. So with a heavy heart, she chose what was best for now.

"Nothing is going on between jennie and I--"

"Yes, there is."

Lisa's words cut off when a voice answered the question for her, and as she darted her gaze to the door, there they saw jennie standing with her thick glasses but having this mischievous smile on her face. Lisa was sure her heart nearly leap through her chest as she realize what was happening.

"Hi, Seulgi. Can I have manoban for a moment?" Jennie addresses but her eyes are fixed on lisa only. Seulgi's mouth completely went agape when jennie called lisa by her surname, the name she's been hiding for years.

"J-Jennie. Uhm.. is there any problem?" Lisa was stuttering as she asks the woman.

Seulgi, on the other hand, just stares at the two back and forth, studying every person's expression in that small room. There is something lisa should explain to her next time, and she knows it's important.

"It's lunch. Aren't you hungry?" Jennie dismissively said as she walks back to her own office, without glancing back, leaving the two speechless behind. Lisa looks at Suelgi with I'll explain later look before she stood up, ready to follow jennie.

"You're seriously gonna explain everything to me." All seulgi could say before lisa exited the room with an apologetic smile.

Lisa ran out of Seulgi's office but got stumbled upon Irene who was likely stunned to see her. An awkward silence lingered in the air as their eyes both meet. Irene's aware of what's the role of lisa in jennie's life and what role she is in this company. It's normal for her to feel awkward when all she knew for years is that lisa was just a normal person. She wasn't aware she's been dealing with the CEO all those times.
