(3)Mona's house

Layla pov

'Im so excited!' today I go to Mona's house after school, it's really thrilling. This will actually be the 1st time I've gone over to someone's house! I wonder if I should bring anything, aside from my phone and note book ofc. "Layla honey, your going to be late for school!" "You don't wanna be late now, do you?" I finish doing my hair as I rush downstairs. "Bye mom!" I holler. I start making my way to school, and I see the purple haired boy and the ginger chasing each other with the blonde following close behind. God they are so chaotic, except for the blonde.

Time skip lunch bc everything else is boring af

I make my way to the cafeteria to see if Mona's there already, sure enough she is. "Hi Mona! Hey fischl!" "Well hello Layla!" "Hi Layla." We start chatting and eating for some strange reason the other left us alone, weird but I didn't really question it. Soon enough lunch ended and we went our separate ways.

After school bc why tf not

I start walking home with Mona, eventually we reach my house. And I told her I'd be out in a bit and that she could wait in the living room if she wants, then I walk into my room.

Mona's pov

Layla invites me into her house for a bit and must I say, Layla has a nice living room. "Oh hello there, you must be one of Layla's new friends. Hmm Mona was it, she talked alot about you even though you've only been friends for 2 days!" I hear a voice from the; I assume kitchen. "O-Oh, hello. And yes you'd be right, I'm Mona. I assume your Layla's mother?" "You're assumption would be correct." "And Layla talks about me?" "Why of course, after all your one of the only friends she has or has ever had. I mean she also talks about a girl named Fischl and a few other people, but not as much as she's talked about you." I- she talks about me that's very nice to know I guess.

Layla's pov

I walk down the stairs with my things and a different outfit on because why not. "Mom! Leave Mona alone I know your going to start bombarding her with questions! Mona come on we're going to run out of daylight and I don't wanna walk in the dark!" I exclaimed "Bye girls, have fun." "Layla, slow down you're basically dragging me out the door!" After I slow down a bit we continue to Mona's house.

Finally we make it to Mona's house. She introduces me to her mom and her mom's friend

Mona's pov

"Mom, Alice this is my friend Layla." "Oh my, she's elven like me and klee!" Exclaims Alice "Alice, stop fonding over her ears don't you have to call Rhinedottir soon?" My mom asks Alice. "Oh that's right! Thanks for reminding me redacted!" "Layla, I am truly sorry for the way Alice was behaving." "O-Oh, it's fine Ms. Megistus. I'm sure she was just refreshed to see another with elf ears." "Well anyways, you two should go to Mona's room now" me and Layla walk into my room. I plop down onto my bed, but as I look back up a see Layla just standing there. She looked anxious like she didn't know what to do. "Layla, you know you can sit down right?" "A-ah sorry" she then takes a seat next me on my bed. I still didn't understand why she's so nervous.

Layla's pov

'archons I am so nervous.' "Layla, you okay?" "Y-yes, I'm fine. Sooo what do we do now?" I ask Mona, "How about we watch a movie? Your choice of course." Mona suggests as she pulls out her laptop. "Sure! I mean I don't really know any movies, I know a couples series though!" Mona opens up Netflix and hands me the laptop. "Pick." I scroll through the options and also start thinking of series I know. Shera, An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts, and then I see something '"The Thorns of Time" Netflix adaptation of the book by Lisa Minci' I set the laptop down and click on it. "Oh I didn't know they made a series about Ms. Minci's book" I hear Mona say as she looks at the screen, "hold up a minute, I'ma go get us some snacks" It didn't take long for Mona to come back with a basket of snacks and some drinks. "Alright now let's start this thing up!" She exclaims excitedly.

At a very young age I got my life span cut in half, I was set to only live till 35. It was my life's goal to make the most of this short life I have. No one know about my curse but me and my parents.
I originally wasn't that scared that I'd only live until 35, until I met someone, who I never want to be without

After first episode + Mona's pov

I look over at Layla, she was clearly confused. I ask her what's wrong, she explains "The book isn't anything like that, We don't find out her life span is cut in half until we meet her girlfriend AND WHY'D THEY MAKE HER HAVE A BOYFRIEND INSTEAD OF HER ORIGINAL GIRLFRIEND, HE DOESN'T EVEN BARE THE SLIGHTEST RESEMBLANCE OF THE DESCRIPTION WE GET OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS GIRLFRIEND!!" Layla continues to ramble on about the major differences between the book and the series so far. "Layla, are you done ranting about how you want to sue the creators of the series?" She nodded she still looked visibly upset, I also wonder if Ms. Lisa has seen the series. I mean I know they probably had to get her permission to make a series about her book but I wonder if she knows about all the changes they added to it.

Layla's pov

'I still can't believe that they changed the story so much! And that was only the 1st episode' But me and Mona continue to hang out and soon she gets a notification she laughs and shows me her phone, the page reads. "Because of all the complaints towards the Netflix adaptation of "The Thorns of Time" Netflix has decided to to take it off of their list of shows and films to watch. Sorry to any that enjoyed." I started laughing alongside Mona, we were hysterical. Turns out I wasn't the only pissed book nerd.
