**Before we begin I would like to start by saying that I, Lucy, daughter of Ares, am sound of mind and reasonably sound of body. I assure you, the reader, that I am on no drugs. This story is a product of boredom and a good imagination. So, enjoy this story of Buzz Fletcher and space.
PS. Hey, Danny/Lauren**
I wake up with the feeling of a presence beside me. I look straight ahead at the silent clock that looks over my cot. Quarter past two in the afternoon. "Band practise at Tom's house" day. Which means the presence beside me must be...
"BUZZZZZZZZZ!" Dougie squeals delightedly. Out of all the band members, Dougie's arguably the least mature which explains why he's in my room and not on break with the rest of the boys.
"Afternoon, Doug." I greet, and, unlike the others, the hairy one completely understands. I guess in maturity terms, he is the same age as me -which basically means he enjoys talking about dinosaurs and boobs and laughing at fart jokes.
"Hello, favourite Fletcher." He says happily, lifting me up. "how are you today?"
"Grand, I slept well" I reply, glad of the conversation with someone who understands the way a child's brain works. "You?"
"Tired," he yawns "Ellie snores after big gigs." He chuckles fondly.
"Oh yes, how is she?" I ask politely, even though my mind is elsewhere, wondering what psychology is behind Ellie's snoring habits.
Dougie smiles dreamily "Great as ever." He stares out of my window and blushes a little bit. Well... A lottle bit.
"Hey," I wave my hand in front of his face to pull him back to his senses "snap our of it."
"Sorry, little Buzz, he gasps "do you want to go see Tom and the rest of your uncles."
"I suppose," I murmur, I miss my mother. She's on tour with one of her books.
Dougie carries me down the stairs and to the basement on his shoulders. The entire basement had been converted into a huge, stage like set up, with a grand piano, several guitar amplifiers built into the back wall, a half dozen microphones plus stands, an essential cardboard cut out of Doc from back to the future, a huge cupboard of assorted guitars and, of course, a complete drum kit that seems to dwarf everything else in the room. Including Harry who sits, completely drowning out everyone else by playing a repetitive beat.
James, Matt and my dad sit around one of the tables at the right of the drum kit. Matt wears a pensive look, Father scribbles furiously on a napkin and James just looks as relaxed as normal - his curly hair covering his eyes and his arms and legs splayed out on the couch like a drugged up starfish.
Danny strums quietly on a couch a few feet away from the brainstorming table.
Typical, I think, all this space in this huge room and yet they gravitate towards each other.
Dougie carries me towards Tom and I instantly see my dad relax as he watches me approach. He throws the napkin and Matt's face and opens his arms warmly. I suppose he didn't deserve all the the insults I threw at him last night. Dougie lowers me to the ground and encourages me to take a few steps.
"Dougie," I warn "if I fall I swear on my mum I will excrete on you."
"Go on," he cheers "Tom will catch you." I give him my finest death glare and attempt a step towards Tom's arms. I say attempt, because as soon as Dougie let's go, I fall. Of course, Tom catches me mid air but that doesn't stop me from planning my revenge on Mr Poynter as soon as I'm scooped into my dads arms.
"Traitor." I mutter to him as Dad clutches me to his chest.
Dougie just suppresses a giggle as I glare at him. I do the whole "I've got my eyes on you" hand signal but he just smiles apologetically.
"Someone finally decided to wake up," Tom chuckles.
"Not my fault that you take ages to change me when I could be getting some well earned sleep." At this point, Dougie loses it and ends up on fits of laughter on the floor. The rest of the band give him a questioning look then roll their eyes in complete sync with each other.
"What's up, tiny Tom?" James chuckles and puts his hand into a fist so I can punch it. Which I do, but I completely ignore his question.
Instead I answer with "Please refer to me as my name, boyfriend of Matt." Not the best comeback, but I managed a laugh from Dougie, which of course sends another wave of confused looks in his direction.
"What are you on?" Danny finally talks and puts his guitar down in frustration, completely void of song ideas.
"I don't even want to know." Matt sighs as Dougie sends a wink in his direction.
"FOR FUCKS SAKE." Harry grunts and slams his drumsticks down on the ground. Hr notices Toms glare and me in his arms "swear jar?" He asks.
"Swear jar." Tom growls and glares at the back of Harry's head as he trudges towards the jar to put a two pound coin in.
"By this time we'll all get access all area tickets." Matt chuckles. He's referring to the trip to America the group and their families are taking to America. They plan on getting said tickets to NASA as a family trip thing.
"You're one to talk, Willis," Harry growls "pretty sure ninety percent of the money in there is from you."
Matt pulls a phoney shocked face and tackled Harry to the ground. They play fight for a bit while exchanging various insults until James mutters "Get a room."
"Someone's a little jealous." Doug mutters only loud enough for me to pick up. Even though I've been asleep for half of it, something tells me it's going to be a long day.
