You lay on your bed with your homework haunting you from beside.
"I can't do this anymore!~" You whine to Nami.
"You and me both, sister." Nami was also slumped.
Ever since classes started, the professors haven't given an ounce of mercy to the students. They dumped all the homework that stacked up over quarantine in one go.
On top of all that, Ace managed to send you short messages, but they weren't enough to satisfy your clinginess.
____
"Yes?" An unknown number called you.
"(Y/N), why haven't you been answering my calls?" A stern voice came from the other side of the phone.
"Mom?" Your voice quivered over her voice.
"I've been ringing you for days now. Why on earth did you block my number?" Her rage was obvious through her tone of speaking.
"Isn't it already obvious, Mom? I don't wanna hear any more nonsense from you." You coldly said.
"Nonsense? I'm simply providing you with a wealthy husband for you to have a bright future!"
"Bright my ass! The 'husband' you set me up with is a two-faced jerk! No way I wanna get married to someone like that!" You argued.
"You're being selfish (Y/N)!" She shouted. "Are you even thinking of me? This could really help my company!"
You gritted your teeth. "No, Mom. You're the one who's selfish. My whole life, you were the one who made decisions for me. And you have the audacity to ask me if I thought about how you feel? You should ask that to yourself!"
With that, you ended the call. You didn't notice the tear that slid down your cheek. You quickly wiped it away and put your phone on the side table.
______
A few days passed. Your mother hasn't contacted you ever since, and it worried you.
You heard a knock on the door. You stood up from your desk and went to answer it. You peaked through the small window and saw it was your friend, Robin.
"Robin!" You opened the door for the raven and greeted her with a big hug.
"Hello, (Y/N). How are you?" Her voice calmed your mind. "I've been well, kinda."
Robin raised a brow "Anything wrong?"
You gestured for her to get inside. The both of you walked towards the bed, "It's about my mom, again." You started.
Back when you guys were still at the beach, Robin managed to get a glimpse of your phone with a pop-up of your Mother's message. She immediately confronted you about it and you had no choice but to explain all to her.
"She.. managed to get my number again." You exhaled dramatically. "I already blocked every possible number she has, but I don't fucking know know how she still managed to do it!"
Your distressed expression on your face was very visible. You didn't know what to do at this point. As well as the 'Mother problem', Ace was still very busy.
You wanted to tell him what was happening, but you know that he didn't need any more problems right now. Just last night, Ace gave you a long message explaining why he was so busy. Saying that a lot of problems came up on the project they were doing and that the deadline changed-- making it very close.
You understood his situation. If you were in his place, you'd obviously be stressed out as well.
"So, what did she say?" You snapped out of your thoughts when Robin spoke. "Oh, yeah."
